I usually always have a great experience at Hanaki but this time I was met with missing items from my order and attitude. I live 30 minutes away and placed an order online for pickup. When I received my order I thanked them and drove home. Usually when I order online I know for a fact that everything that I purchased is going to be in the bag because they never forget anything. Once I arrived at home I noticed that I was missing the rice and soup that comes with my teriyaki steak dinner. After noticing that I became annoyed because I just drove 30 minutes away and now I have to go back to retrieve my missing items. When I called to report that I was missing my items I was met with kindness and told that I can get my items with no problem so I headed back to the restaurant and this is where I was met with attitude and threats. The woman that handed me my food gave me attitude because she packed my order and ensured everything was included in it. I responded that she must have been mistaking it for another order because I was clearly missing my items. She then proceeded to scold me about lying about my missing items to which I turned around and walked away.
I’ve never had an experience like that there and it was definitely something that didn’t sit well with me. The fact that I had to drive back to retrieve items that was forgotten and the scolded by a worker when she could’ve simply handed me my missing items is frustrating. When you were seated, you were given a hot wet towel to clean off with and complementary cucumber salad. The sushi was always fresh and good and they had unique items like conch.
The service, menu, ingredients and quality have all declined. No more towel, cucumber salad and the conch was replaced by shrimp. We went last night. We were seated quickly and given our drinks. It seemed like they forgot about us completey. After waiting a long time the waiter came over and asked how everything was and we reminded him he hadn't taken our order. We ordered three items. About 25 minutes later they came and told us that they could not provide the Caribbean Salad because they were out of lobster. Ten minutes later they brought a tray with one of the three items and told us "they were out of Tuna". What kind of sushi restaurant runs out of Tuna at 6:00 in the evening.

Read moreToday was my second time dining in at this restaurant during lunch. Both times, I was served by the same young woman, and each time she gave off very negative energy. Anyone who has experienced it probably knows exactly who I’m talking about.
There’s a difference between being laid-back and being flat-out dismissive. Her facial expressions, tone, and overall demeanor made it clear she wasn’t concerned about my experience—nor anyone else’s, for that matter.
Not to mention, there was another customer dining in who ended up walking out saying, “That’ll be the last time,” after waiting patiently for someone to bring him his check. He eventually looked back to see every front-line worker texting, so he got up and walked over to pay instead.
To make matters worse, I ordered the same meal both days but was charged $3 more today—with no reasonable explanation.
