Del Taco — Restaurant in Chesapeake

I will be fair in my review since it's been over 5 1/2, almost 6 years, and I can't remember that experience. Today, I arrived before the lobby lunch rush. I waited about 10 minutes just to get from the 3rd place in line to the cashier to order. I will say that I feel that this wait could have been less due to the fact that the front line had 1 cashier doing both the dine in orders and making shakes. The kitchen looked over staffed (I get it from a brand new opening), but the cashier should be only taking orders and not having to leave for shakes. By the time I ordered my two taco combo and 2 tacos with sour cream, I had spent around $18.50. I was shocked at that. I waited about another 10 minutes to get my food. By then, the line to order was out the door, and the drive thru was a very long line. As I got back to unpack my food, it was still hot. I was amazed to see that the taco was loaded to the top. Generous servings of beef, but skimpy on the tomato's and sour cream that I paid extra an $0.70 each for. The amount of cheese was overkill. It could have been done without that much. The flavor was OK, compared to the competition (Taco Bell). All in all, my experience is mixed. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and busy. The food, however, I feel, is a bit overpriced. I could have eaten at other places for less than I spent, yet I had to give it one my try. I probably won't eat there again, but that's my personal choice, and it's not based on my recent visit. I just had to try it one more time to...

After a long day, picking up garbage at Ocean View Park with my daughter's company, and some shopping afterwards, this was our experience before heading home. First time for me, but my daughter has had the same experience previously. This time she brought me in an attemp to give this establishment the opportunity to obligerate her previous experience. They Failed miserably. Food was not tasty. Carnitas were hard, as if old, or not fully cooked. Carnitas main flavor was Lemons. A strong Lemon flavor, which completely turned me off. It was after 9pm, and we just wanted to mitigate the present hunger, before our over one hour ride home. My daughter got the food, and her payment card, and rode on. I tell her, "please stop in the parking lot for a few minutes to eat". She stopped, upon taking her food out, she realized the order was wrong. She returns to establishment, (gets on line again) to get the food right (especially her daughter's order). They were nice, and corrected the orders. Mine was O.K. Then my daughter realized part of her order was missing. My daughter made that line 3 times, and Never got the full order she paid for. So, we just let it be cause it was just too much, and we were too tired. She swore she would NEVER return there. Mind you, she works nearby the establishment. Del Taco you failed in many ways. If I see you in Florida, I will definitely tell my friends to avoid you...

There really is no fast food restaurant like Del Taco. Literally every single ingredient is fresh. I worked there for about a year when i was in high school in Arizona, and once I found out that they had built one just 20 minutes away from me here in VA I couldn’t believe it. but it’s not just the fresh ingredients that sets this restaurant apart from the others (even tho that is a HUGE set apart!) it’s the people and the friendly environment. the workers aren’t stressed out, everyone’s helping each other and you always feel welcome to come in and order whatever you want. Yesterday i went to this location for the first time and right when i walked in the manager greeted me and welcomed me in, and they did that for every customer who came in. I ordered about 10 different things and I kind of felt bad for ordering so much but they didn’t mind and it was ready within like 5 minutes. I ordered a customized Epic burrito, a soft chicken taco, a regular chicken burrito, a bean burrito, a del cheeseburger, a churro, a chocolate shake and a strawberry lemonade, and 2 sides of chips and queso/guac, to a total of only $36! I’m so excited to go whenever I want now that I have one so close by, I just wish I knew sooner because apparently they opened up back in July. but I’m so very grateful, Del Taco is truly unmatched and by far my favorite...
