You've got to try this place! So good! It's the real deal! Made by peeps that know the food. Before here, I've tried mezzah in VB @ Lynnhaven and Mr shawarma in Norfolk. Both disappointing. Food was just slopped on with no care for the thought of how you are supposed to eat it. I got the beef shawarma pita w rice, veg mix, feta, + more. The Garlic sauce is amazing! The beef was seasoned delicately and so much better than the normal "frozen gyro" meat u get at other places that's had a gamey aftertaste. The sauces and hummus as the perfect mix. No lie it was really good. I got the chicken shawarma for my friend, in a bowl. Rice cuz she's anti veggie right now. Lol, added tomatoes, hummus, feta and more of the white sauce and tahina there was another but I missed the name it was very herb-y. Tasted this one & again super awesome. The rice was light and perfect compliment. I'd probably do the chicken.bowl w mix greens, as a salad. Was only able to eat half of my beef shawarma wrap, but that means I get it for dinner too! Sorry couldn't wait to try it before I took...

But here? You are family. No, seriously, you are.
I have lived all over the world and this is FINALLY an authentic doner kebab spot. Like, the real turkish deal.
I opted for the lamb and beef wrap, which, is probably the most scrumptious turkish delicacy this side of the at Atlantic. Served up with a ton of different components that only add to the silky lamb and beef which are literally dripping with flavor (aka grab 10 real European napkins).
Super crispy and crunchy fries are served so hot they need to stand for a minute or you'll be hating those fingers for a while.
Now, to the family part. This should have been an in and out operation. Grab and go. But it felt great to sit and talk about culture that I had experienced and learned more about theirs. So don't just grab a pita, bowl or wrap and go. Sit and have a chat. Its...
Read moreI had an an appointment nearby and was looking for places to eat. The Shawarma Shack had, without comparison, the best reviews of restaurants nearby. Never having had shawarma before I didn't really know what I should try. So naturally I told the guy serving that I was totally new to this and could he recommend something. He couldn't. He just told me the options. So I rolled with and it asked for the lamb, beef bowl. When he asked if I wanted rice was when I first discovered rice was an option. There were a lot of options of veggies. I added onion with sumac, marinated cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, and garlic sauce. I have no idea if this is the best combination because the guy seemed to not want to offer suggestions. I did enjoy this meal and I will eat shawarma again but I will likely try to learn the cuisine through a friend who is familiar with the options instead of relying on...
