We stopped by here on a whim this weekend, totally random, by chance and I'm so happy we did!! From the outside, its just a small space you may not notice next to subway...but OMG, this place is AMAZING. First, I have to say, the staff are so nice and give the place a warm family feel. There's a super cute "mom n pop" grocery inside with some fun imported items (Bulgarian I believe) and a restuarant operated from the back. It felt very laid back and comfortable. We decided to eat outside and were soon greeted by several cheery, welcoming people.
Most importantly, the food...is so delicious. I cannot overstate to you just how DELICIOUS their food is. Literally every single thing we ordered was SO FREAKING GOOD. (And coke in glass bottles!!) We got a banitsa which is a delicate phyllo shelled roll stuffed with cheese, plenty to share and obviously made with love. Husband got a chicken panini and fries, cooked in coconut oil (yum!!) And I had the best darn grilled beef kebabs (cavapi) on a warm pita with grilled onion and some fire roasted tomato sauce on the side. I have no words to describe to you how good this was. I'm craving it again right now. Finally, we tried the house made ice cream desserts. Im pretty sure everything is made from scratch. We had a caramel and a strawberry dessert which felt somewhat like pie, so good.
I've never had a meal at a restaurant where I could find no fault, until now. This place is a gem. It deserves way more attention than its gotten. We are absolutely going back soon and...
Read moreWent in tonight and the owner was really nice and helpful with suggestions. I knew the entrees I wanted (Bosnian Cavapi and the Greek gyro with Bulgarian fried cheese) but was looking for recommendatuon of drinks and dessert.
Got an awesome suggestion for blueberry and fig (!) marscapone. I love figs and that cake was amazing. Don't get me wrong the blueberry was good too but oh my goodness that fig cake.
He also recommended a pear lemonade from Georgia (Country not State) that had a good flavor. My wife wasn't a huge fan but I enjoyed it a lot.
Ok so that was my order and I wholeheartedly can recommend it all.
That said they had so many tasty options for packaged food and food for preparation. I think I counted 6 or 7 types of frozen perogies and so many meats and cheeses. I could legitimately make a week or two of meals here and be quite happy. So much selection of new things to try.
Last note, if you are a beer drinker there are so many Eastern European beers here. Untappd users, there are a couple badges easy on the shelves.
TL;DR - Great good with generous portions and an excellent selection of items in the market. All with friendly and...
Read moreDiscovered this place by accident today while visiting the Korean market next door. We ordered the chicken skewers with shopska salad & the lamb gyros with fries. Everything was perfectly seasoned, cooked & hot when served. The fries where nice & crisp & weren't heavy on salt. Everyone is super nice & the atmosphere is great. Other note "fyi", the Shopska salad does not have lettuces & is made with cucumber, tomatoes, green peppers, red onion, feta & oil dressing. It is absolutely 100% delicious 😋
They also have an attached Bulgarian market where they sell all sorts of snacks, coffees, wines & other authentic foods. The Grandmother makes a variety of homemade cakes & other desserts. The flavors of the cakes also get rotated out regularly. If you need a cake for a party you can order a full cake for your events... We definitely plan on coming back here regularly ❤️100%
Online orders are also available for pick up or delivery & the online menu is...
