Got a coupon mom wanted to try it. I am quite the expert on mexican restaurants as I try them every where...lol. In this place the food service was fast but the beans were so bland, the meat not seasoned. The salsa was more on the runny side than the chunky like home made. And the chips appeared store bought. My mom ordered a margarita 🍹 and it was fair at best she ordered a medium but he brought and charged a jumbo. We asked questions and the waiter got irritated by us actually he was the manager and was rather annoyed. As new customers we had questions on the extensive menu. I asked for recommendations and he again was annoyed and said "we have steak fish chicken" which did not answer my question. We finally settled on lunch number 1 mine with beans hers with rice. The rice was cooked correctly not under or overcooked. Again no seasoning. I like my Mexican food to have some spice not be bland and when taco bell has better seasoned meat there is an issue. He finally quit coming to our table and handed us off to another server who refilled our drinks and brought the bill. It was 1:30 ish when we got there and we were the only people there other than 2 people drinking at the bar. For $38 dollars I expect better attitude, food, and service. In west county you can go lots of places this is one you might pass on.

I had the enchiladas suizas and they were delicious. They were also reasonably priced, especially for the amount of food you get. The chips and salsa were also pretty standard fare. I sat at the bar since I was visiting the St. Louis area alone. The bartender was very nice. I was expecting the place to be pretty packed on a Tuesday, but it wasn't. I was also expecting a "Taco Tuesday" special on tacos, but there wasn't one. Maybe I got there kind of late and maybe it was just an unusual Tuesday for them. Maybe I was arriving close to closing time, I don't know. I found the place to be clean and inviting with outdoor seating available as well. I liked the truck theme with lots of decorations using trucks and semis. Kind of unique. It's in a strip mall, so there's plenty of convenient parking. I did not use the rest room, so I can't tell you how clean it is. I got in and out fairly quickly and was much pleased with the experience. When I was at work the next day, none of the people I asked who actually live in the Chesterfield area had ever heard of it. But then, the entire office is a bunch of young tech nerds, so maybe they don't actually eat Mexican food.

El Troquero is a family-owned restaurant with outstanding service. They immediately greet you with smiles and a basket of warm chips and homemade salsa. The salsa is "family friendly" (mild) and they have hot sauce on the table so you can turn up the heat as you desire. They have a large menu. Ask the servers which dishes they recommend. Some of our favorites are the chicken fajitas, pork tacos, chicken enchiladas and the homemade soups! Like the salsa, the soup broths are mild but flavorful. They serve tabasco peppers, chopped onion, cilantro and lime on the side so you can season the soup to your taste! The portions are generous and the food comes out fast and hot. The servers are attentive and efficient. The restaurant is always clean and the atmosphere is casual. We never feel rushed at the end of our meal. El Troquero is located in the Schnuck's Hilltown Plaza. There is always ample parking. They have a few tables outside, a bar, and lots of TVs so you don't have to miss the game! My husband and I eat here regularly so we have grown to love the people here. We hope you visit them soon!

First I'd like to start saying that for a bit over a year I've been coming to this place almost every week and ordered the same thing, I have never had a reason to be disappointed. However the last time I came here the gentleman that was my server made my experience horrible. We did not get a cup of water, I had to ask for it, and when making my order I was rushed. Either way I placed a order for combination 26 (Rice, beans, 1 burrito and 1 enchilada) and like the previous +15 times before I kindly asked to get the enchilada replaced for another burrito. He then proceeded to tell me that was not possible, I argued that it was possible all the numerous times before, he then said it would cost extra, which would be fine for a small substitution fee. My boyfriend then went to place his order, combination 10, the server not once asked him what type of taco he wanted, soft or hard shell, chicken or beef, therefore when told it would be soft shell he tried saying it was complicated. All I got was that he did not want to take time to make sure we ordered the food we wanted and were satisfied. Meal proceeded, it was brought to the table something that was not a combination 26 which is what I ordered, and the margaritas where also incorrect. The time to pay the check came and when I pointed out that it was charged rice, beans and 2 burritos separate instead of a combination 26, the server said it was what I ordered. I tried to explain that it was not, I asked for a substitution not a "a la carte" meal, he ignored and told my boyfriend he did not wanted to speak with me to solve the issue. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior and as a frequent customer I expected a better treatment instead of being disrespected the way I was. No need to say but I will not be recommending this place to anyone, the food is great, but unless you want to be disrespected and rushed, do...
