K&J Donuts — Restaurant in Chesterfield

My husband and I came through here on vaca..I saw the building on the way to our hotel and we stopped in the next morning. We were both taken back a bit about the atmosphere , quality of donuts, and just we’re both rather disappointed overall. Honestly surprised they have their own standalone building. Somehow it felt stressful just ordering the donuts at the counter. Including ordering a cup of coffee. The place felt off.. the decor there was adorable, though! It seemed they still had quite a few options for 10am on a Sunday, but now I see why. The donuts tasted old and stale, as if they’ve been out a day or so. Overly processed tasting, and the chocolate frosting wasn’t even somewhat tasty. I love donuts from various places, but these I didn’t even want to finish. The bathroom was also a bit messy. We sat outside and there were swarms of ants eating scraps from dropped food in the ground. - not something they’d easily shot but overall we were definitely...

Poor management, I used to take my kids there every Friday but it didn’t seem to matter how early we got there, they would always make us late. We started to go earlier. Same result. Tried going inside to avoid the drive through. Same result. Long waits even when we were the only people there…Went this morning. Two donuts and a black coffee. Sat at the drive through window for 15 minutes. I’m all for supporting small businesses but if I had the time or the energy, I’d open a Dunkin Donuts across the street because this place is dropping the ball. The employees are nice enough. Just poor management.

The owner responded to this review by saying their manager was in an auto accident. I certainly hope they’re okay, that said, we’ve been going to this place since they opened and this has been our experience every single time we’ve went there. If it was a one time thing, I wouldn’t have made the review...

Would give zero stars if I could. I never leave reviews but after this experience I felt it to be very necessary. I was looking for a nut free facility to buy donuts for a kids birthday party. One of the kids attending the party has a nut allergy. The woman who works there was extremely rude on the phone. She was very short with me acting as if my questions were a bother to her. She was rude and hung up on my mother when she called in to place the order. When my mom got there to pick up the donuts she made my mom sit there for 10mins while the donut shop was empty and she carried on acting busy. Finally a younger girl came up and asked if my mother if she needed help. All she needed to do was hand my mom the box of donuts that had already been paid for. Although I was excited to find a donut shop that was completely nut free we will not be returning. It was a horrible experience....
