Miss Carla was SO welcoming! (And she is REAL… not Chat AI lol) Honestly, I sent a message in the Marriott BV app asking for an early check-in, hopeful but truly not expecting a response. Carla replied with-in minutes, welcoming me to St Louis and Fairfield and assured me my room was ready for me… so when I arrived I was very surprised the lady at the desk was not anywhere near as welcoming or friendly- and when I asked if she was Carla she jus said, “nope, I’m not Carla”… it was quite a different from the message in the app. So I assumed the app was using AI in chat and named it “Carla”. Until tonight… I walked to the lobby to get something and was greeted by a woman who was every bit as polite as the Chat-AI… when I gave her my room # for my items, she said OHHH I REMEMBER YOU! WE SPOKE IN THE APP. Yep, it was Miss Carla!! The kindness and warmth in her voice was every bit as welcoming as her message, and MORE! I went out for paper plates, and almost two hours later I returned to my room with a 100% different opinions of my stay here. Despite the construction going on out front, and the other less than welcoming front desk staff, it is Carla that made this location my go to when I come to town for work. I felt like I was visiting an old friend. And it was not just me… a gentleman came in from dinner and brought her back food from a very nice steakhouse… where he went to celebrate his birthday. When she heard that, she asked him to join her (and me also) for breakfast, where she will have cake and a card waiting for him, a man who returns to this location in his retirement because of her. Carla is Customer Service at its finest! She turns hotel guests passing through into longtime friends who will come back again and again as long as she is here.
To say I was impressed by her is a complete understatement. As a professional who has had much experience in hospitality as well as healthcare, these experiences are worth it to share because of how rare it is. Miss Carla is a gem… and this place will thrive with her here.

Read moreReally disappointed in our stay at the Fairfield Chesterfield. Don’t be fooled by the reviews here or Google that say it’s clean. Far from it in my opinion. Our toilet had urine drips down the entire front of it. We had no bar soap for hand washing when we arrived to the room. There was a charger on the floor in plain sight that was left over from a previous guest indicating it wasn’t thoroughly cleaned as well. I spoke with the front desk and they did give me bar soap I asked for at least our toilet to be cleaned appropriately. They said they had put in a request to housekeeping. It didn’t get cleaned. We only stayed 2 nights thank goodness. Everything else seemed clean-ish but I just can’t get past the toilet. The linens are the most awkward setup that I’ve ever seen. There’s no actual duvet cover. Just a duvet in between two sheets basically. The shower was fine for me because I’m 5’4” and my husband used the wand but any taller you’ll have trouble with the shower head height. The room was newly renovated-ish. Looks nice except they nearly covered the outlets with the headboard. Could hear every noise in the hallway. It smelled of a hint of smoke throughout the hallway when we arrived. We regularly stay at similar quality hotels when traveling and this just was one of the worst. It’s a Fairfield and we didn’t expect the Ritz but we did expect it to be clean. I spoke with the front desk who provided bar soap and submitted a request to housekeeping to have them clean our toilet. It didn’t get cleaned. Our stay was only 2 nights thank goodness. Everything else was pretty new and clean-ish but I can’t get past the toilet. The linens were super awkward and the duvet is just placed between two sheets and there’s no actual cover. The shower head was super low. It was fine for me at 5’4” but any taller would have an issue. My husband used the wand.
