Gastro 49 Pub & Eatery — Restaurant in Chesterton

I was looking forward to trying the food after hearing about how good it was. The server never brought the water I ordered but no biggie, she also had to make our cocktails and they were great. We ordered boneless wings with mild bbq for an app and decided to split the pork chop special since it came with 2 chops and purple couscous and a side of sweet potato fries. Wings came out with Buffalo sauce. Our server said the mild choice was referring to Buffalo not bbq, and that I never said bbq to her. Ok. I thought I was losing my mind but later I looked at the menu again and no where does it say Buffalo as an option. You are just supposed to know that. She offered to put in another order but said it would take a while so we said no. The chops came out a bit later. We both laughed when we saw them! They were about 1/4” thick, with some old shredded lettuce tossed around them. No couscous, didn’t ask as she never came back to check on us. Seasoning on the chops was good. Fries were ok, some were well cooked and others were hard, which was weird. She took the wings off the bill which was nice since we didn’t ask for that. Absolutely terrible service! They forgot about us basically the whole time we were there, took so long and brought out the blandest food… had to beg to get any refills, and I wanted more than just water but gave up because they just stopped checking on us until the last minute. I looked online at the menu before coming and saw that they had chips and guac available as an appetizer so I had asked for that, and she said “oh we don’t have that… we only have pico and the queso…” But they literally have both pico and avocado available here so I’m not sure why they couldn’t just make a guacamole… considering its advertised on their online menu… (which I said I had seen on their menu online but she gave me no explanation) They also substituted a side without even coming to let us know what we’d actually ordered wasn’t available… She said they just assumed it would be okay… Literally the worst customer service I’ve had… Absolutely don’t come here unless you want super bland food, messed up orders, inattentive servers, and everything is way way overpriced (which would have been fine if the food was actually decent and we actually had a waitress...

First time trying out this pub ,since it was St Patrick's day passed on the fish and went with the Cornbeef and Cabbage special .At almost 20.00 I figured it would be a great meal.When the meal was brought to the table I realized it was a very traditional Irish meal ,right out of the Irish potato famine of 1845 very little meat ,a boiled tasteless potato, and a stalk of cabbage that was severely undercooked. After telling waitresses about this meal she gave us a discount. I noticed the party at next table also had the special and I asked them about their meal ,and they too were disappointed in meal .Wife had the Ruben which was a good sandwich, which had more corn beef on one half then my meal .The staff was very good at all our needs and drink selections plentiful.
