Northside Diner — Restaurant in Chesterton

I’ve been coming here since I was in high school and never had any issues until the last couple of times.

To start off, our waitress was very rude, didn’t even greet us, and it was clear from the start how bad our service was going to be. When we finally ordered, I asked if the “chicks” came with cheese, since I was overcharged the time previously and she said yes.

When the food came, my hash browns were completely burnt and inedible and there was no cheese on them. I brought this issue up with the waitress and she just goes “oh yeah” and walks away. She returned with a plate and tells me to put the burnt hash browns onto the plate and wait for new ones, but didn’t take them off the bill or apologize.

When the bill finally came, there was a charge for “extra cheese.” I asked about it and brought up the fact that I had already asked if it came with cheese and she said that cheese doesn’t come on the “chicks” and she argued that she never said it came with the meal. The top of the menu specifically says “comes with choice of cheese”. She said that that meant I have the choice whether to get it or not, which makes no sense. She then explains to me that only one of the chicks on the whole menu actually come with cheese and everything is billed separately.

Overall, the customer service and the experience was horrible. I used to love this place but now I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody. HUGE...

The manager of this place most of woke up on the wrong side of the bed today .when she went to ring us out she yelled at my whole party bcuz I asked what the break down of my bill was.I could not read it .all it had was a total and I had never even received any of the meats that went w the breakfast I had ordered.I asked the waiter where was the bacon sausage and ham as he passed by our table and I still never got it.no to mention 1 person at our table was served her meal ten mins b4 any other the other three of us recieved any food.long story short all I wanted was the charge for the meat I never received to b removed from the bill and instead I had one of the rudest women I have ever encountered yell at all of us at the register and told us to never come back .this owner should defiantly watch the video of how the customers r treated in this diner .I will never recommend this place to anyone .matter of fact I will encourage people to not go there ever.food service horrible and customer service at the...

Stopped here for breakfast on the way to a day of hiking at the dunes. We didn't realize that they closed at 11:00 that day and we got there at 10:59. We felt bad for getting there at the last minute but the service never reflected that. This had to have been one of the best experiences I've ever had with a server at any restaurant. Extremely friendly and helpful telling us about the area and where to go to find information on our hikes. Overheard her having several conversations with other people at the restaurant and was just as friendly to every one of them also. The atmosphere of this place was awesome and the mural out on the front was great too. Food was just as good as the service. Someone else mentioned it in another review but yes tomatoes on a Western omelette is a great call and the French toast was delicious. I like to try new places but this is one where I might just skip a new place and come back here if I have the chance...
