Love this little park. It has a nice wooden platform walk winding along the river. I've seen finches, canaries, orioles, cardinals, fish, crawfish, turtles, snakes, dragonflies, butterflies and other insect life. There is a competition horseshoe area, a playground, a dog run, picnic areas, etc...You can enjoy downtown Chesterton and the park. During the summer when the pampas grass and cattails grow tall, the park feels isolated from the world even thought it is right downtown. Recent and frequent vandalism of late has ruined a platform overlooking the river by the playground and railings along the path but it is still a nice place to take a walk. The river walk is a nice place to go if you want to watch beaver activity. At least one active beaver is removing all the trees along the river. You can observe day to day as more teeth marks appear on more trees and watch as the beaver works hard to fell the trees, gnaw them into manageable pieces and drag them...
Read moreI have been in this neighborhood for over 14 years I love this little Park unfortunately there is nothing for our teenagers to do in our town so they go there now and they get in trouble they have carved names pentagrams gang type of signs in all the picnic tables they've destroyed them kicking them breaking them there's a literal over the pathways today I had to call Chief Richardson and told him about it because anytime I've called dispatch a police officer will go there and nothing gets done I am disappointed the kids these days have no or not much discipline hopefully when the new YMCA will open these kids will get away from this park at least Chief Richardson said he will do something about it and I believe he will it's so nice park but it's full of...
