Nice small little old school American style diner/park and eat. Has outside seating, car hops, and inside diner. The air must have not been working on the day I came here cause it was HOT inside and out. Service was fast, simple and easy, and very friendly. Large simple menu with non-meat option (I was surprised by this, I didn't order any of it, tho). I tried several different hot dogs and sausages, and all were very good. The patty melt was hands down the best thing I ate here, and that says a lot as everything was really good. The jalapeno poppers were spicy! The cheese curds were great, along with the mozzarella sticks. The waffle fries weren't bad either. If you're in the area and want great burgers/hot dogs, this is the place.

If I had to sum this place up in one word it would be OUTSTANDING! We got there around lunch time and they were a little busy but as soon as Emma saw us she acknowledged us and said she would be with us shortly. My boys killed some time playing the claw machine (best one I've seen because all the stuffed animals aren't jammed and impossible to get) and looking at the license plates. The owner came out and asked my kids if they wanted a specific color car was a friendly and cute gesture. Food was delicious, root beer and shakes fantastic and service outstanding! We will definitely be back!

Amazing food, amazing service, can’t wait to go back! Best root beer we’ve ever had. Every food item we tried was top notch! Huge menu of items - enough to please even the pickiest eaters. Try the Bosco sticks - they’re deep fried and delicious. The Thai chicken wrap was epic too. Pizza puff was just the right amount of spicy and the dough on the outside was thin, fried, and delicious almost like an egg roll. Kids meals come in these awesome folded Buick Roadmasters with toys hidden inside. Prices were amazing. Highly recommended! Great place to stop on the way back east from Chicago.

Okay place- but left much to be desired. It can be a great place with a few adjustments. I'd like to try this place again in the future if it just made some adjustments to the food quality and service.

Burgers: Ordered a Quarter Pounder with Bacon- Cheese Mayo, mustard, Ketchup, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, onion. Burger was less than average, mainly because it was missing something: the burger patty did not have the pleasing bite that a nice beef patty should have- felt too soft and tasted bland. Makes me wonder if they're using older frozen patties. The burgers would be 10x better with a nice fresh Angus patty or fresh and not frozen ground beef.

Burger bun- Same with the bun, parts of the bun were hard, and others soft but dry whereas I was expecting a soft moist bun. This is due to using older bread buns just on the cusp of expiration.

Onions- nothing against the onions, but the burger would be better with freshly cut onions rings instead of diced for the extra juicy crunch.

Tater tots - rancid. They were definitely nice and crispy but they were deep fried in old oil so they tasted like old fish or rancid oil.

Fries- crispy but too chewy-were left in the warmer too long. Salt level was nice., but I did not finish my fries because they were not pleasant to eat.

Unsweetened iced tea -it had a peppermint and root beer flavor to it. Not sure what their process is for the unsweetened iced tea but I believe they are using the unwashed vats from some of the other drinks for the iced tea. Nice amount of ice though.

Soft drinks- ordered a Spezi (half coke, half orange soda). Not enough ice- was very warm.

Service - not bad, very friendly staff but definitely needs to be waved down at the counter when you haven't seen your attendant in a while. Kind of defeats the purpose of a drive-in but at least they are very friendly and accommodating.

Otherwise, great concept for a drive-in restaurant- we need more of these- very American, good atmosphere, so I'm kind of rooting for this restaurant to do better in the future because I think we need more...

Got to the port for some dinner, found a table and sat down. The table was a little dirty but manageable after I wiped the top off. As I waited for a server I watched 3 different girls walk right by my table. After 10 minutes of walking around checking other tables I stopped one of the girls and asked her to please send someone over to take our order, she replied I will be there right after I take this order. We'll another 10 minutes goes by and still no server. The table she took the order for is now receiving their food. So I got up and walked inside and asked if they would send a server over to our table after being there about 25 minutes now. They said we will send someone right over, I went back to my seat and waited another 14 minutes and still no server at my table. After that I had enough and got up and made my way back to my bike and went next door where we were seated right away and took our order within 8 minutes. So if you would like to get your food within reasonable time go to Gastro49. And yes the food was very good to Sorry. Port Drive In. You just lost a customer.

If anyone from Management at the Portl Drive In reader this post I would highly suggest in retraining your staff. I know you lost $135.00 in sales tonight just from my table.

I gave you 1 star because it would not...

I was really hopeful that this place was going to be good. The reviews all made it sound amazing. I love old time driveins. We sat on the inside because we have 2 young children. The service was terrible. The waitress was not attentive, the food was not good and it took a really long time.

I'll start with the service. There was 2 other tables with people and the drivein was not busy. We sat down and the waitress saw us. She walked passed us and went to another table then disappeared for quite a while. She then came back for our drinks and disappeared for quite a while. After ordering a cheeseburger, tenderloin, and 2 kids chicken strips we sat for about 20 minutes for food. When it arrived the cheeseburger was maybe 1/4" thick. It had to be tree smallest thing I've ever seen in any restaurant. I don't care for McDonalds but even they have this place beat by a mile. The tenderloin didn't appear to be hand breaded. I'm not sure what took so long. After we ordered a walk in person ordered and 2 more tables came in. It wasn't a busy place. The food was not good and way over priced for what you got.

I would not recommend this...
