Tao Chen's — Restaurant in Chesterton

Me and family decided to have lunch at this place. We regretted it. The food wasn't that great. Service was the worse I have ever had. We were left waiting for drinks refills and we had to call the person who served us to get us more after an long while . They got my daughter's food wrong and when we told them to get us the right one, they took foot ever and we had to call them and remind them of the food we were waiting for. That's when they remembered we had a dish waiting. Pretty sad . We decided to leave just a few bucks because of the service and way we were treated and then they got upset and were rolling their eyes at us. We paid and walked out giving them thanks and none of them replied. They even followed us outside on the parking lot to return our tip. I will not recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat Chinese in Chesterton Indiana. People here are rude and they have no manners whatsoever . I will never eat here again . Rude and ...

I placed my order with 3 other people, my order was first I specified that I wanted my beef well done and the waitress asked me what rice would I like, I said I wanted beef fried rice she said ok and I ordered a veg. egg roll and we wanted our egg rolls first . After about 20 min. we got our egg rolls water and hot tea. Waited another 20 or 30 min. brought our food mine was last didnt have beef fried rice, just brought a big fried rice bowl for two. I had to explain to her where was beef fried rice and had to tell her that's fried rice not beef fried rice. And in the mean time I tasted my beef kow the meat was not cooked enough fat chewy not cooked enough sent it back. Left the rice took the beef kow back. In the mean time I had some rice no sauce dry. While I was waiting ,everyone was half done eating hadn't got my food yet it was about 30 min. later brought back my beef kow it wasn't hot and my meat was still not cooked. Came in recently, only two other tables were occupied so this should have been better. Our server was polite but incompetent. We got eggrolls in a reasonable amount of time but no silverware and had to wait for beverages. Also had to grab condiments from another table. After an hour of no food, I learned that our server forgot to place our order. I told the woman in charge that I would pay for the egg rolls and sodas and be on my way. She didn't apologize, merely stating they could cook our food now. I declined as that element of trust was now gone....it would have been a nice and redeeming gesture if they would have comped the eggrolls and drinks but sadly no, they happily charged full price and let us leave in frustration. Very poorly handled and I won't return....we weren't valued by this business and they probably don't...
