ALDI — Local services in Chesterton

I had been obsessing with the changes before they had actually opened on Thursday October 14th, 2021. I walked in not expecting to buy any produce at first, but when I compared their Kirkwood chicken price to the sale price at Jewel across the street, I took the last four bags at Aldi. I gotta say I was really impressed about the size of this particular Aldi because the other ones I had been in were rinky dink 😆. I Forgot to use the $5 off coupon that I cut out. For someone who has a gluten intolerance, I'd recommend being careful about shopping at Aldi. They sell a lot of products that look like they contain wheat. Their selection of fresh fruits and fresh vegetables is okay. They seemed to have an interesting selection of cheese. The name brands are different. Some foods are certainly more affordable than those at Strack and Van Til and Jewel Osco. They also have a small line of home necessities like blankets, paper towels, gloves, and the like. couple of weeks ago i went Aldi for shopping and i was very disappointed. i was picking up package of mini cucumbers and to my surprise all the packages were tampered with . these packages always contain 6 to 7 cucumbers , but not that day. without exception all packages had only 4 in them . i checked them all and because i am a regular customer for past 10 years (michigan city store)right away i knew the management was responsible. i asked one of the employee and she told me that's how it came in. this was a wedensday when Aldi gets the new stuff every week , so i decided to go to my old store , ALDI in Michigan city . As usual the packages of cucumbers contained 7 or 8 in them and i switch back to my old store. to me this was bad enough for me to go back to Aldi in Michigan...

I’ve never shopped at this Aldi before, but decided to stop because it was on my way home. The store is clean for the most part. The produce didn't seem to be as fresh as it typically is when I stop at an Aldi. The staff is also pretty rude. The cashier that checked me out didn’t speak at all. He was beating on the register when it didn’t work properly, throwing my items in the cart, and huffing and rolling his eyes when he had to ring up my markdown items. When the transaction was done, he took the receipt off the printer and handed it to me and didn’t say a word. I think I’ll continue to go to my usual Aldi stop which is Portage. The staff is friendlier there and I don’t have to dig through the selections to find items that aren’t close...
