We just checked in at Sofitel Chicago Mile Hotel from New York and we were famish so, we decided to go downstairs to the Le Bar. Looks very nice and cozy. We decided to sit on the high top table. We sat probably 20 minutes plus, the 2 waitress just kept passing us, glancing once in awhile and did not even acknowledge us. We decided to move to the round table and still did not give us a menu or ask us for our drinks. Then we see all this people walking in and they were serve with drinks and some with food and this white tray of dish with popcorn and chocolate covered pretzels except us. We actually said "Are we invisible or what"? Finally, half an hour after we sat down on the low top table we finally got a menu and ordered our food and drinks. When we we were done eating we ask for our check but then again, we sat down for awhile waiting for someone to take our check so we can go. They were nowhere to be found I finally said, Hon just go to the bar and pay our bill there and we left right after. Boy, how quickly did she come out from their room Very poor service, no smiles at all. You can tell they really love their job...hint hint. Too bad my honey left her a 20% tip, she truly did NOT deserve it!! Food was great!! Too bad the service was awful or we would have hang out there at night the whole time we were at the hotel and invited...
Read moreAs a local who lives just around the corner, it's the staff, ambiance, music, and crowd that brings me back week after week. The team, Jeremy, Julian, Sydney, and James always provide exceptional service and white glove experiences with cocktail and wine recommendations, good conversation (when they're not busy), and an esteemed professionalism that is second to none. It's like walking into a hip New York bar, but buried in this Chicago concrete forrest.
If you're drawn by the French-themed name, don't hesitate, but be aware that there are slim to zero options when it comes to the cuisine and wine. For a hotel with this much global presence, I truly hope to see a more robust food menu with European charm and taste. This establishment needs to give their customers (both short and long-term) a seasonal experience, keeping their curiosity thirsting for more.
Note to management/ownership: Please expand your food bar bites menu. Chicken wings are meant for bars in Wrigleyville and Boystown, not the Gold Coast. Make us feel like...
Read moreThis is right next door to our condo so we like to frequent here. Unfortunately, on this last visit (Tuesday 6/18 at about 6:45 pm) we had a terrible experience. Sat down at a table in the bar area. A waiter immediately came over and took our drink order (he was great). However, the manager was holding an employee meeting at the bar so they didn't think it important to make our drinks. We waited. Nothing. Ten minutes pass and the meeting adjourns. My husband gets up and says something to the bartender - that we ordered drinks and had been waiting and we're going to leave now. He said "oh ok". Not, sorry let me get those for you. We left. My husband was so annoyed he went back in asked for the manager. She was standing right there and didn't speak up. It was if she was afraid. He explained what happened and she offered nothing, not even a slight apology, nada. He left. A shame because we live...
