This is not a 5 star hotel. Not by any stretch. I don’t recommend staying here.
We recently stayed for 2 nights (was supposed to be 4 but we left early due to what I’m going to get into below). Booked a Gold Coast suite but upon arriving, since our room wasn’t ready we upgraded to the Dusable suite (PAID upgrade by the way, not free).
We have stayed previously, and while I think they did a good job with the room renovations..everything else feels low quality. We didn’t love staying here previously but the rooms were nice and location was good.
From the moment you pull up, this doesn’t feel like a 5 star hotel. The parking and welcome associates outside are atrocious. No one even helped us get our bags out of the car. Then when you go in, check in is also bizarre and staff are inexperienced and aloof. This feels like you’re checking into a Radisson. They only renovated the actual rooms so that’s why everything else is tired (even the elevators have worn buttons and are dated). Lipstick on a pig type scenario.
BUT let me get into why we left this hotel. On our 2nd day there, my husband and I were resting in bed- had the privacy light on and door locked. Suddenly, we hear what we assume is the door open and a man talking IN our suite. Since my husband was in his underwear, I quickly got up and ran over to the door asking the man why he was in our room. He was stumbling over his words and couldn’t tell me at first. I asked him sternly if he saw our privacy sign. And he went back out and looked and said “oh ok sorry” then proceeded to tell me he was there to “bring the top of a soap dish” as he holds a little wooden piece. I close and lock the door and immediately call guest service on the hotel phone. I call THREE times and no one picks up. I then put my clothes on and go downstairs to speak to a manager. A light spoken man named Shawn comes to speak to me. I tell him what just happened and he says he will look into it and he’s sorry to hear that. So helpful, thanks. Housekeeping later texts me to say the man that entered our room unannounced was meant to go one floor down. We were so insanely uncomfortable and didn’t trust leaving our pricey items at the hotel or even being there after that.
Listen, We don’t believe the bit they tried to sell here. My husband and I truly believe that man thought we were out and was coming in to scope the room out. We were staying in the highest suite below the presidential and this happens?! We got really off vibes just immediately. The housekeeping staff seems extremely suspicious.
We check out the next day, no discounts to the room or valet for what occurred. Then a couple hours later my husband realized he left his MacBook charger in the suite. He calls and they say they don’t have it but they will check and call him back. No one even bothered to call. He had to go buy another $150 so he could work. The lack of service, accountability and professionalism is unacceptable. We have stayed in much less hotels when we were younger and never ever had an experience like this.
To put the nail in the coffin, I emailed Shawn the manager over there to express my upset about all the above and no response. Again, I didn’t know we paid thousands of dollars for 2 nights to stay in a holiday inn.
If you value privacy, service and you travel with expensive items,...
