We went to Moon Star after a show at The Second City (across the street), and had no expectations. We didn't even know the place existed (it hasn't been open very long), but we were hungry and gave it a shot.
Gotta tell you....this place is extremely good, extremely. Sure, I was a little dubious given the disparity of items on the menu. However, the kitchen knocked everything out of the park.
We got the:
Spreads (appetizer) Grilled lamb lollipops Australian wagyu steak sliders Fried oyster po' boy sliders Baked crab dip Crab wontons
All of them were good, and we all had a separate favorite. Personally, I thought the fried oysters and the baked crab dip were the standouts. However, my wife thought the lamb and pimiento cheese (with the spreads were). The others all liked something else.

Read moreMoon Star is an amazing addition to the Wells Street corridor ! The cocktail list has something for everyone, from their excellent wine selection to their extensive whisky list and inspired original cocktails. The interior is warm and cozy--perfect for meeting friends or clients for drinks before or after a show at Second City across the street. And I highly recommend the food as well. We loved the crab dip, which was the best we've ever had (and I'm not usually a huge fan of seafood). The olive and almond tapenade was a great shareable starter, and the bread they serve with it is so good! The shrimp cocktail was huge and delicious. The wagu sliders melted in our mouths and the burata was amazing, too. I can't wait to go back and try the other dishes. The next table over had the chicken curry and raved about it. If you're looking for a great spot in old town that will satisfy a wide variety of tastes,...
Read moreWhat first struck me was the atmosphere. We were greeted immediately by the manager who was able to seat us immediately. The service was impeccable. Our waiter never let our glasses stay empty and made great suggestions from the menu. We ordered the Crab Dip which was the best I have ever had. It had a little kick at the end which I loved. We also had the shrimp cocktail and would put it up against any in the city. Had to be 6 count size. The Burrata and olive tapenade were also delicious. But the star of the show might have been the wagyu sliders. They were perfectly cooked and the slider bun created the perfect combo. I can’t wait to go back and revisit some of the dishes we already tried and explore more...
