I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gallucci, an Italian restaurant located in Old Town, Chicago . As a lover of authentic Italian cuisine, I was delighted to discover that Gallucci specializes in making pizzas from Napoli . From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that made me feel right at home.
One of the highlights of my dining experience at Gallucci was the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Anna. Anna's knowledge and passion for Italian cuisine were evident as she guided us through the menu, offering insightful recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Her friendly and attentive demeanor made us feel well taken care of throughout the entire meal.
Now, let's talk about the food. The pizzas at Gallucci are truly a work of art. We had Pizza Tartufata and Pizza Pepperoncino ! Each bite transported me to the streets of Napoli , with the perfect balance of flavors and a thin, crispy crust that was simply divine.
No matter what you choose, you can be assured that the ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality. I highly recommend trying the homemade chocolate mousse for dessert - it's the perfect way to end a memorable your dinner.
In addition to the exceptional food and service, the ambiance at Gallucci is inviting and intimate. The rustic decor and warm lighting create a cozy atmosphere that is perfect for a romantic dinner or a gathering with friends and family.
Overall, I cannot recommend Gallucci enough. Whether you're a fan of authentic Italian cuisine or simply looking for a delightful dining experience, this restaurant is a must-visit. Anna, thanks again for great service! We will be...
Read moreI don't like to write bad reviews but while the pizza was nice, the service raised some red flags that I noticed were mentioned in other reviews (which sadly I only read after I'd eaten here as I was wondering if our experience was a one off or part of a pattern). My wife and I choose 3 different wine options (and one of our meal companions chose a cocktail) that we were told were not available despite being listed on the menu and then received "equivalent" suggestions from the server that turned out to be more expensive without having been quoted the prices (I know, our fault for not asking). When my wine arrived the glass was sticky on the outside in both the stem and the bowl but I didn't say anything as I didn't want to gross out my meal companions. The strangest part of the experience for me was that when I asked for the bill the server brought the machine to pay with my credit card without ever providing me with an itemized bill and I had to ask for it but didn't get it until AFTER I paid (first time I've ever had that happen in a restaurant). As we were rushing for an uber, I didn't check the itemized bill till we were in the uber and then realized the wine and cocktails were more expensive than our original "unavailable" options and we'd been charged for an extra pizza that none of us had. I would caution future diners at this establishment to check your bill carefully and insist on your chosen drinks or to be told the price of suggested...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Gallucci Pizzaria Napoletana was so frustrating and disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that customer service is not even an afterthought here — it’s nonexistent.
We were ignored at the door, left standing awkwardly while multiple staff members passed us without so much as a nod. When we were finally seated, it took nearly 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, and the server acted as if we were an inconvenience rather than customers. No greeting, no apology — just attitude.
The pizza? Overhyped, undercooked, and completely forgettable. But honestly, the food wasn’t even the worst part — the lack of professionalism and basic hospitality was. It’s one thing to have an off day in the kitchen, but when a restaurant consistently treats its guests with indifference, it speaks volumes about the management — or lack thereof.
It’s clear there’s no leadership here. If you own a food business and don’t understand that customer service is everything, you shouldn’t be in business. Period. A bad pizza can be forgiven. A staff that treats people like trash? Unforgivable.
Do yourself a favor and never eat here. There are far better places where you’re actually treated like a human being — and where the owners care about more than just cashing in on mediocre food. Gallucci’s is a perfect example of how poor management poisons a place from the inside out. You’ve...
