Editing and adjusting my rating accordingly as my concerns have been addressed. Management has gone above and beyond to ensure my concerns have been addressed and what they will do to improve for next time. Thank you very much Claridge Hotel! **Stay Dates:** August 30th - September 2nd, 2024 The Claridge House Hotel has a great location in Chicago, and for the most part the staff was friendly. However, my experience with housekeeping was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Upon check-in, I was asked if I wanted housekeeping for the duration of our stay, and I clearly confirmed "yes." The front desk staff member seemed tired and disinterested, so I suspect they didn’t properly note my answer. We checked in at 3 p.m., the normal check-in time, and despite the initial interaction feeling a bit off, I didn’t anticipate what would follow. The next day, after exploring the city, we returned to our room to find it in the exact same state as we had left it—no clean towels, unmade bed, and garbage still in the bins. When I called the front desk, they told me, ā€œWe don’t have you down for housekeeping.ā€ I explained that I had been asked upon check-in and had confirmed that I did, indeed, want housekeeping. I even went the extra step of hanging the ā€œOut on the town, please clean my roomā€ sign on the door. After some back and forth, they acknowledged that they did have me listed for housekeeping but stated that there was no staff available to clean the room. Frustrated, I asked them to at least bring clean towels. The following day, I took extra measures. Before leaving the hotel, I called the front desk to confirm that my room would be cleaned. Again, I hung the sign on the door. I was assured it would be taken care of. We left at 9 a.m., saw housekeeping in the hallways, and returned at 2 p.m., only to find the room still untouched. I called the front desk yet again, and they said they’d send someone up. To avoid being in the way, we left the hotel again. However, when we returned around 5:45 p.m., the room still hadn’t been cleaned. At this point, I had called the front desk at least four times about the issue. Although I remained calm and polite on the phone, no one seemed to care about my frustration or follow up on my requests. As someone who understands the demands of customer service, I never raised my voice or yelled, but it felt like no one took my concerns seriously or made any real effort to address them. While I generally don’t get upset over minor inconveniences, this ongoing issue took away from my ability to fully enjoy my trip to Chicago. It’s disappointing that despite repeated confirmations, housekeeping never followed through, and the lack of concern from the staff only made it worse. Unfortunately, this experience has left a lasting negative impression of what could have been an enjoyable stay. I have yet to hear from anyone from management.

I am blown away by other peoples reviews I can only assume other people complained in hopes to get some money back. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø Our stay is quit the opposite of the other reviews I’ve read. We checked in on a Tuesday afternoon. The lady at the desk was a beautiful black lady with a bling hair band and mask. She was extremely friendly and helpful. We received a text message after check in asking if our room was ok and if we needed anything and also the next making sure we were still ok. I’ve never had any other hotel do this. That was extremely cool. I used spot hero to park in the garage behind the hotel. Something to note is they say that parking next to the hotel is available for in and out service. That is only true if you pay the $58 per day through the garage directly. It’s void if you use spot hero. When you walk into the hotel it is beautiful and smells wonderful. The elevator is close to the front door. The elevator is extremely small. I mean barely fit our family and the luggage cart. We were on the 7th floor. When the doors open it was a different site. The carpet in the hall leading to our room did need a good cleaning and did not match the stylish modern feel of the lobby. Still not a big deal we were only walking on it to our room. Our room was clean and had a modern feel. The AC was cold, and the shower was hot with good water pressure. The fridge was small but big enough to hold a few drinks and our sandwich meat. The room was bigger than I anticipated it to be honestly. We walked to eat dinner, the Chicago 360 (Hancock tower), there’s a beach area across the highway, tons of shopping, a grocery store behind us and a cvs at the corner. Great location! I was extremely nervous before checked in because of all the other reviews and how incredibly cheap this hotel was but was pleasantly surprised. Oh a few things to note. They put a $100 hold on your card at check in in case of damages. I wasn’t expecting that. AND they charge an extra $22.50+\- a check out per day. Also wasn’t prepared for that. So make sure you take those generic bottles of water when they offer them to you. You are definitely paying for them. Overall we had a great stay and this hotel definitely exceeded our expectations especially for the price we paid. My only complaint is the $22.50 they charge at check out. It’s unnecessary nothing special or extra was offered to us to justify that charge. It would be nice if they offered breakfast too but again didn’t expect it.

Stay Dates: August 30th - September 2nd, 2024

The Claridge House Hotel has a great location in Chicago, and for the most part the staff was friendly.

I almost never write revues but I have to for this place so pardon me if it's a little long but we had a great experience here...

LOCATION is beyond perfect; It's around the corner from the Clark and Division Red Line station with multiple busses being just a block or 2 away. There are convenience stores, grocery stores, bars, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment all within a 10 minute walk. It's also close enough to the loop to be convenient for sightseeing but far enough away where you feel like people actually live in the neighborhood; It's a very lively and active area without feeling congested or touristy.

SERVICE was A++ The teams working every department from the desks to the bar to the cleaning crew and everyone, were so friendly and conversational. We'd usually share an elevator with someone working in the hotel and they'd strike up an organic conversation about our stay and even ask us the next day "oh hey again how was your trip to x museum, how was y park?". Never felt forced or invasive; everyone seemed to really enjoy talking to the guests in their hotel they deservedly take pride in.

ROOMS we had read on the reviews before we booked that the rooms were small and knowing that going in I wasn't surprised or disappointed. They were rather small, especially the bathroom and the views were nothing to write home about. But for me and my partner the size was the lowest priority for us. More importantly they were clean, smartly decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was roomy and all the basic amenities were there and honestly that all that matters. It's a beautifully renovated building that maintains all of it's historic charm.

LOBBY we didn't use much of the amenities so I can't rate the restaurant, fitness or business centers but the lobby was where my partner and I spent a lot of our time. They had fun and energetic music playing in the lobby at all times vs quiet classical or unwanted muzacs echoing in the distance from faulty speakers. When we stayed they hosted a happy hour from 5-6 for a free glass of wine and throughout the day lots of quiet table games and study/working areas set up. There were always people in the lobby working comfortably or socializing. You can tell the owners/managers and staff really want guests to feel comfortable/welcome in the shared spaces and it shows

CAL'S I'm going to leave a seprate review for Cal's (the lobby cafe/bar) because that was our absolute favorite thing about our stay and that should say a lot because we loved everything about Claridge House... Even things we don't look for or care about they were above and beyond...
