Every year, for my friend's birthday, a group of around 7 of our friends makes the pilgrimage to Cana. In 3 years it has never disappointed.
We usually order 2 of the "serves 3-4" people sets and pick every meat we can get, then decide on a meni item. We've had kimbap for the most part but this time we went for tteokboki.
About the tteokboki: the tteok were so bouncy and perfect carriers for the rich, sweet, and not-to-spicy sauce. We chose to get fish cake as the add on. I love fish cakes and thought the ones added were pretty median for quality, especially with the upcharge, but still a delicious and authentic snack while we waited for the meat.
The cooking usually is my job. Don't be mistaken though, I love it- especially with how quick and neat they are over there. The meat is always so tender and delicious, even when simply seared and dipped in salted oil or samjang. That being said the marinated meat is simply something that you can't miss. The spice pork and chicken end up so saucy and juicy with a slight smoky sear... mout watering. The star of the show is always going to be the beef bulgogi. It is admittedly a simple recipe, but it just hits so differently at Cana.
After a delicious meal the host/waitress (who I believe is the owner's daughter) gives the birthday boy free chopsticks and a choco-pie with a candle and whipped cream.
Now the cost. We obviously love spoiling and treating for friends bdays, but the prices make that a little rough here. The four receipts (among the 7 of us, there are couples) each were around $120. That of course includes bottles of soju, the app, the sets, and some individual non-alcoholic drinks. I will say though, for ~$300 for the sets, I would have loved to see more meat and more banchan and rice.
If you're hurting for money, there are definitely still options to try here but for parties please be ready to spend a good amount for the split bill.
Overall, the food is amazing and I think it's worth the treat. Can't wait to come...
Read moreMy very first time doing a Korean BBQ! I listen to many podcasts and they often mention the joy that is a KBBQ this establishment did not disappoint, from the outside this place would be what people identify as “a hole in the wall” and in my opinion in my experience as a lover of foods and open to experiences and moments, this “small” on the outside shop did not disappoint! But please I urge you reader! Walk through those doors it is bigger on the inside! It is beautifully decorated with mementos and items of what I can only imagine would be Korea be it South or North I can not identify but it is beautiful work regardless! This establishment is ran my a dynamic husband and wife! An they work hard and give great fun in every step they take, welcoming newcomers and carefully explaining the ins and outs of how to do the BBQ side of the meal and recommend what flavors go best with what…in the end all the flavors are just UMAMI all around! The crisp of the pork belly, the tang of the pickled Kimchi! Their delicate but flavor busting dumplings. We appreciate your service and your kindness, my mother had recently just broken her arm and you were extremely kind in making her feel that this is still an experience you can have with one capable arm. We look forward to coming back and I do hope more folks find you and share the word of your fine...

You could be a vegetarian and come here and just not get the meat. Their menu is able to be found be scanning the QR code I have pictured as well at the restaurant itself. They also have call buttons which is nice. An 18% gratuity is added to the bill if you get the table BBQ. You get to pick an appetizer (choice between scallion pancakes and fried dumplings), an entree (soup, bibimbap, or fried rice), their shrimp fried rice is great., then you pick a drink. The price is based off how many meat dished you want. $80 for 2, $100 for 3, and $150 for 4. It's a lot of meat. 3 meat dished will serve 4 people easily with all the sides. The sauces are delicious. They have kimchi, bubble tea, and you can eat some high quality and healthy food here. Try them out! PS: thanks Samantha for...
