Went today for breakfast ordered french toast and added a drink because my "rewards" said I could get a free coffee or 22oz fountain drink.
I pulled around to pay and I let the attendant know I'd like to use my rewards points for the drink. She says ok and takes my phone to scan for the rewards points and my card for the payment. She hands me the drink and my phone back. Then she asks me to sign the receipt. I look to see the total and it 18.43. The drink is still on my receipt. I bring this to her attention and she says yes they took off the drink. I showed her the receipt w the drink still in the total. She gets her manager after saying again it's not in the total. He comes to the window and says because I paid with my debit card that's why the price is higher. The meal I ordered cost 11.99. It's a service fee of 3.5% when you pay with a card there. I tell him the surcharge on the order(3.5%) is .62 cents. The CA tax is 1.33. That doesn't equal 18.43. It's 18.43 because the drink charge is still on there.
He then says the free drink was for a coffee only and that's why but he will remember and next time give me a free drink. In my mind I'm thinking he wants me to trust he's going to keep to his word to a random stranger and after this experience I'm not really feeling like ever coming back to this place. I show him on the app it specifically says coffee or fountain drink. He looks at it and says on his computer it doesn't say that and that because I paid with a card he can't refund the drink! He can only cancel the whole thing. At this point he pauses hoping I'll just relent and sign his receipt and go away. But. I tell him to cancel the order and refund it back to my bank and I hand back the drink to the attendant. My mind is literally blown by the audacity of this guy. I mean with the exception of teens and maybe a few people in their early 20's who would believe his story of being unable to fix the situation?
In the end he is supposedly refunding the transaction something that apparently couldn't be done while I was there. I tried to get a time frame so I could give him the benefit of the doubt that he will follow through. He said possibly today if he does it right away or 2-3days if he waits 2-3 hours before he processes the refund. I kept a copy of the receipt incase I have to dispute the charge with the bank. I left there with nothing but the questionable agreement he will reverse it.
So much hassle for a drink I wasn't even going to order if my app hadn't alerted me I had a free "reward" to use. I'm not a fan of this place anymore, not for the initial mistake but all the excuses and dismissive attitude of the manager guy trying to flip it like I didn't understand and it was my fault.
update The owner contacted me to apologize for the poor service and understanding at the location. The restaurant gave me a gift card to their Ontario location.(I requested that location because I really do not have any plans of returning to the Chino Hills location) I do appreciate the follow up. Thank you I added 2 stars back on the review for...
Read moreTonight we wanted something quick and I was in the mood for a patty melt so we swung by Archibalds. We used to go there often but in the past few years we hadn't. Tonight we thought why not Archibald's. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great either,, but recently it has become WAY over priced. A double cheese burger, pattymelt and 2 regular cheese burgers, small fry to share amongst 4 of us and onion rings, we did not order any drinks came to a total came of $54. Yes $54, no joke. I actually had to have them repeat the price when I came to the window since it wasn't available when I ordered.
I just came back from Disneyland where I expected to pay $54 for the same thing, but these hamburgers from Archibald's were nothing more than frozen patties on a grill and pre made and heated up there. I think Disneyland fries and burgers actually were better. Fries at Archibald's were limp and onion rings lacked flavor. The pattymelt was hardly grilled, the burgers had hardly any of the fixings. At $12 for the "Monster" burger I was expecting at least a little more than average at best. The burger was better titled "not so scary Monster" burger.
In - n - Out, way better everything usually runs is about $30-$35 with cheese burgers and double doubles and chocolate shakes. The Habit with way better quality and options also around $35.
Archibald's used to be a reasonable level priced and better quality, now it seems like they just increased the price while lowering quality.
I want to be able to help local business but it seems like Archibald's is just ripping its customers off now. Won't be going back again even though just...
Read moreCASH ONLY, unless you wanna get charged extra!!! I really LOVE Archibald’s food, convenience and service! Unfortunately I loath their prices and that they charge an extra 3.5% if you use debt card/credit card! Hence the 3 stars! I come here about once a month and dine in. Today, I was in a rush and it was raining, so I used the drive thru. (They were really fast!) Today was the first time, I saw the signage at the window, announcing that they charge an additional 3.5% if you use your debt or credit card. WHAT A RIP OFF! I’ve always used my credit card. (YOU’RE WELCOME ARCHIBALD’S) They’re already over priced, so I’m very upset! (As upset as I was when my father would introduce to me my “new mommy”’s!) Of course I’ll be back with filthy germ soaked cash! (I sure I hope I don’t catch a rare disease and end up on Deaths Doorstep,...
