The people in the pro shop were really nice. The Marshall was a total jerk! Very rude!!!! I got a tee time off golf now and when I got there I asked the pro shop if I could play alone and they said yeah. Just tee off when you're ready. I got to the tee box and before I could talk to the starter, the Marshall asked for my name. I told him and he said oh with golf now. I said yeah. I told him the pro shop was going to let me play alone. He said ok and the tee box is all yours. I teed off and played. By the time I got to the green inn the first hole, the Marshall came by and said another guy has to pay with me. I said I was playing alone so I can practice. He said no! you're both from golf now! I can't let singles on my course! You're both from golf now so you have to play together! Later he got mad I didn't know where one of the tee boxes was. He came up and said the tee boxes are behind the bushes. You will play this hole later when you cross the bridge! He said this in a very rude tone. Im a 2.5 HCP I’ve played here for 15 yrs, been a member, played tournaments here, this being my home course.. booked a 2:15 time on a Tuesday, I get there and there is NO ONE there. It’s usually packed no matter the day. Number one, I’m hitting range balls 40 minutes before my tee time and they call me up so I tell them I want to finish warming up first and he gives me a blank stare. I then go up at 2:05 and tell them I’m ready if they are, and they try and put me IN a cart w a random dude. I say “I can’t take my own cart? There’s no one here.” He replies “dats da rules” yeah bub I know the rules I’ve played here for 15 years and have had my own cart 500 out of 500 times. He says “if you would’ve went earlier you would’ve had your own cart.” I laughed and replied “so you’re punishing me for not starting 40 minutes earlier than I booked?” He then says I can pay 20$ ON TOP of the tee time to take my own cart and I laughed in his face. A little too high priced for an average course. I played South course. I drove out from San Diego but wouldn’t make the drive again. There’s obviously a lot of history here but the conditions were pretty tired and overplayed. Layout was quite enjoyable and didn’t seem to play as long as the yardage said. It was also incredibly slow and despite talking with the marshal, he drove the other way rather than address the slow group in front of us. Despite having 15 carts lined up per course, they wouldn’t allow us to load into a cart until 5 minutes before our T time which doesn’t leave much time to get everything settled and in place. Facilities were dated but still very nice and the breakfast and beverage service was great. Automatic 15% gratuity at the snack stand for a few beers seems like a cheap way to squeeze some extra money tho. If this were a $70 course and I lived local I’d frequent here but definitely missed the mark in too many areas that most $100...
