I intend a compliment when I say the best truck stop food I have had in a while. Literally the building with Truck Scale connected found a local favorite for breakfast and lunch. A building that made me think 70s lounge, contained a full bar, simple tables and chairs, and a packed house. Pancakes and bacon were my son's favorite. Eggs were solid. I had the Chillaquias, eggs and beans, tasting great, straight out of Abuela's kitchen.
Thanks to Lisa for amazing service.
Restaurant has a fun combination of Mexican and French cooking influences.
Clearly this is a local place with regulars.
Parking lot can be busy. Apparently so much business the sign is very non descript. Really, look for the truck scales and pull in.
There are people who won't like this place. I ate later that day at Nick's on 2nd Long Beach. That is the extreme opposite of Taylor's and both can be good at their thing. Just trying to warn off the folks that don't appreciate old school home cooking, simple interior, and prefer a Chef...

Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about the other four stars this place did earn.
It is a family run business and you feel like part of the family when you eat here. At minimum you feel like an honored guest in somebody's home.
The food is a mix of Basque and American offerings. Most everything comes with bread and butter. Bread is made fresh and tastes phenomenal! Paired with the very tasty mild salsa you cannot possibly go wrong.
Hours are funky. Most nights they close at seven with the last order taken at six. But hey, the family wants to go home and be a family!
Breakfast is always delicious. Good portions, good prices. Saturday you can get tri-tip steak with your breakfast.
Sunday they are closed.
If you live nearby and are looking for a quick, well made, cheap bite to eat, this...

Claudia really brings that special touch to all her customers making them feel good about spending their hard earned cash at her restaurant. Claudia shows you love & appreciation from her heart and that's something you don't get anywhere else!
