We went here despite the bad reviews on Google because the yelp reviews were good and we had just driven 9 hours and we could walk here. First, the restaurant smells bad, like an old, musty building. Our waitress was new which I can understand, but she was given no training and didn't seem to understand basic concepts of serving food. It took 15 minutes to get a drink and then only one came out, the others were about 10 minutes behind that. Salads and soup came out and the blue cheese dressing was just s cup of blue cheese. They replaced that with the dressing which was basically mayo with blue cheese crumbles. I got beer cheese soup which was grainy, oily, salty and broken. I asked for a salad instead and that was ok but we got the burgers before others got prime rib (which makes no sense, prime rib is pre cooked). My husband didn't get a potato and had to ask for it and we never got rolls. The bill was completely wrong and the waitress didn't know how to use the register. She was constantly forgetting things and late worth things. We were the only table in the restaurant except for a wedding party in the banquet room and a few people at the bar.
The food we did get was good. The burgers and prime rib were flavorful and the fries were crispy. Aside from the soup we were happy with the food, but the restaurant is poorly run. No waitress should be sent alone to a table on her first day, she should shadow someone for at least a day. Be prepared for horrible service, but if you're in the Avalon or the Country Inn and Suites and will deal with bad service for the convenience it might...
Read moreWe chose this place because it was 8pm and we had been on the road since 330am and its proximity to the Country Inn & Suites was less than 300 yds walking distance. POOR decision! We walked in and we were seated in the dining room which was entirely empty except for the 2 of us. Even though it was extremely loud in the bar area I asked to be seated in there so we didn't feel like lepers. Definitely a local hang out. Food was very bland and over priced. Ordered the New York Strip and shrimp for $24.50. I had to salt and pepper the heck out of it to give it flavor and the shrimp were cocktail size rather than the butterfly shrimp that you would normally expect with a steak and shrimp meal. The waitress was somewhat pleasant when we arrived but by the end of the meal we felt as though she just wanted us outa there. Asked if we cared for dessert, which there was nothing listed on the menu to which we declined but failed to asked if we cared for anything else to drink, placed our ticket on the table and said, "you can pay this at the bar, and then disappeared. Save your money, drive down the road a short distance, and get treated...
Read moreWhere were the Easter eggs? And, the pan warmers? I took my family to the Easter buffet anticipating a nice meal and shared time together. Sadly, the management wasn't prepared well. Perhaps they were short handed like everyone else. No one to greet you or tell you to wait until they were ready. (A table by a door provided an idea where to stand. In the doorway watching others finish their meals - awkward.). The staff wore street clothes with no protection for themselves or the food. One young man's baggy pants were unsavory on Easter especially with his tail (some long cloth/cord) hanging nearly to the floor. When he was cold he put his outdoor coat on. The food was lukewarm to cold because no heaters were under the serving trays. No decorations or color was present anywhere. Not even an Easter Lily or plastic egg. On a positive note, the food was ok. Not spectacular, but not bad. Perhaps the restaurant itself does a better job. I won't go back for meals in the ball room. Note that I paid $75+ for 4 people for...
