I frequently walk through downtown Chula Vista and decided to give Spoon House Korean Kitchen a try. From the street, their A-frame sign advertising an enticing happy hour—$8 margaritas—caught my eye. In the mood for some comforting Korean dishes, I went in with hopeful expectations. I ordered a margarita and the Korean fried wings. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The margarita arrived glowing bright green, clearly made with a cheap pre-made mix rather than fresh ingredients. The server informed me the wings would take a bit longer since they’re twice-fried, which I appreciated—I’m always happy to wait for extra crispy wings glazed in a proper sweet and spicy Korean sauce. However, what I received fell far short. While the wings had a crispy texture, the sauce was lackluster and lazily poured over the top instead of being properly tossed and coated. This business has potential due to its prime location in the heart of downtown Chula Vista, especially since there are no other comparable Asian cuisine spots nearby. However, there were too many red flags to overlook. The restaurant was noticeably empty, and after my experience, I understood why. They advertise free billiards—an odd attraction for a Korean restaurant—and have a side party room available to rent for $100. The food and drink program both need serious improvement, and even the name, "Spoon House," feels more fitting for a soup spot or an American diner than a Korean establishment. Ultimately, I have no plans to return and would recommend exploring other dining options instead.

Wow. Never would have I thought I’d find great Korean food in Chula Vista. We were warmly greeted and welcomed by Nick, who was so friendly. He told us we could sit wherever we wanted. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and clean. There’s a pool table and tv playing music. My dad would’ve appreciated the 80’s hits being played. There’s also a full bar. We ordered our food through a QR code. Our selections were; bulgogi fries (my favorite), Ramen with bulgogi and an egg, and chicken bibimbap bowl for my husband. The bulgogi on the French fries were marinated soooo good. I loved the flavor. The sauce topped on it was fire too. The fries were cooked to crisp perfection. At first, I thought the ramen was ok. It came out piping how and was steaming until the end of our dinner. But I took it home for leftovers and it was a great decision. The bulgogi was tender and the flavors aren’t too salty. The bibimbap bowl was a great choice for my husband. He cleaned that bowl up. Whenever we’re craving Korean food again, we’ll come to Spoon House :)

This is such a cute little place! I’ve passed it many times and never noticed it before but today the word ā€œKoreanā€ popped out at me as I’m really into K-Pop Culture now and K-Dramas on Netflix so I have been attempting to try all sorts of dishes I see on my K-Drama shows and was excited to find they had a lot of the dishes! I’ve been dying to try like tteokbokki…. And the Korean chicken It was scrumptious and everything I ordered was really tasty šŸ˜‹ I’m so glad I found this place I got tired of eating at the same old K-bbq food places it’s so boring and this is authentic cooking by a real Korean Chef! Authentic cuisine… I only wish they put something more noticeable like a Korean flag or something because I never saw it before and passed by billions of times. I’m going to Seoul Korea in March next year only 4 months from now and I can’t wait!!! I’ll let you know if I still think this is the best Korean restaurant around here, until then go give it a try!…..šŸ™šŸ¼. šŸ‘‹šŸ¼

When you walk into the Spoon House, it's like stepping into a cozy yet chic little world. It's one of those places that instantly makes you feel at ease and excited about the meal to come. Right from the get-go, the staff makes you feel welcome. They're not just doing their jobs; they clearly love what they do, and they're super keen on making your experience memorable.

Now, let's talk about the food. The menu might seem like it's straight to the point, but each dish tells a story of creativity and passion for flavors. The chef has this incredible knack for taking simple, good-quality ingredients and turning them into something absolutely magical.

Their signature pasta dish is something you won't forget. It's cooked just right – that perfect middle ground where it's not too hard and not too soft. The sauce, though, is where the magic really happens. It's rich, heartwarming, and luxurious, all while making the ingredients shine.

And if you're wondering about drinks, their wine selection is on point. It feels like each wine has been handpicked to go perfectly with your meal, whether you're in the mood for something bold or something a bit lighter.

In short, dining at Spoon House is an experience you don't want to miss. It's not just about good food and wine; it's about feeling right at home, in the hands of people who genuinely care about giving you an...

First time here, but we’ve heard all the buzz about Spoon House so we had to retry it out. It’s located on Third and F in Chula Vista. We tried the Galbi and Spicy Fried Korean Chicken. They offered us three free sides (kimchi, cucumbers and spinach). When I put the spinach in my mouth, I was taken back to Dong Yang in Wahiawa, HI. ā€œAhhh,ā€ I thought, ā€œI gave a good feeling about this place.ā€ All of the sides were good. The Galbi was plump, juicy and it had a little sweetness to it. Yum! The fried chicken was god, but I preferred to have the homemade hot sauce on the side. The server, Esteban, was also the bartender. Fantastic guy! When you come here, be patient because it’s just the owner who cooks and Esteban at the front. Parking is free after 6pm. Come early because the parking gets filled up fast.

4-4-23: We came back tonight to try the ramen. GinaBee had the Ramen with boiled egg and Bulgogi and I had the Ramen with boiled egg and Chicken. We chose mild flavor but it still had a little kick. We liked it! The gentleman remembered us from our last visit. Very hospitable. Comfortable and...
