Edit: I had to stop door dashing. I moved out of area. Lol. They are still the most economical option on that platform. And, it is BETTER than anything else you can find around here. There are specials on doordash. Specials that, I believe are the same price as in-house. Also, I miss the fountain from my childhood. However, the decorations are nice.
If you asked me to imagine my perfect tex mex joint, this would be it. Hands down. I love it. I get it from doordash at least once a week. Their tortillas and rice are part of my weekly meal prep. The queso is so delicious, you could drink it. The salsa is light and always delicious. The heat varies, which is an excellent indicator of fresh salsa. The chips are thick. I'm usually a thin, crispy chip person, but these have my heart. You can load a lot of queso on these bad boys. Everything I've ever tried has been excellent. The beef chile relleno is sent straight from heaven. The gravy on the cheese enchiladas is perfect in every way. It is exactly like grandma made. So happy. Their puffy taco is not the typical puffy taco I'm used to, but I love it. Here is the best, best, best story of LA Tortillita. My parents and I went in and our server brought us flour tortillas because she already knew that is what they like. So, next time she stops by, I ask for corn. A little while goes by and I thought she forgot. But no. My server went into the back and cooked me two fresh corn tortillas herself! She brought them and they were thick and hot. I was like someone just made these. That's when she told me she did. And, I could taste the love with which it was made. I was amazed. Ooh, I forgot about breakfast. The bfast tacos are legit. My favorite is chorizo and potato. Pancakes are also delicious, per my picky 10 year old. I'm so...
Read moreThis is not the first time we have eaten here. My parents tend to like it. The past three times have been disappointing. I had eaten dinner with my parents and my brother and his family. We were immediately seated. The salsa was good, but that is where it stopped. I had opted for a combination plate. This place uses American cheese in lieu of Cheddar cheese. I understand that its a cost thing, but it makes the food very bland. Please do not try to tell me its an "authentic" thing because it is not. The Gordita was tasty and did have some cheddar on it. The meat needed tad bit more seasoning. The cheese enchiladas was also like a little rolled up flauta with cheese. The only thing it had going for it was the enchilada gravy. The rice was very good. The refried beans were bland and tasted like they came from a can, and did not taste homemade. My father ordered the porkchops. I knew that he would not like them because they were very thin and had very little actual meat on them. My father did not finish them at all. My brother had ordered a plate and ended up just mixing everything together to make a taco and ate it that way.
My sister in law even mentioned the only reason why she suggested this place was the fact she knew my parents liked it. She was not even happy with her plate. There was a young kid who was our server. It looked like it was his first job. You could tell he was still learning the ropes. We asked for more water. He brings out all new glasses of water. You think maybe if you brought a pitcher of water and refilled our glasses, that might have been more efficient?
Overall another disappointing visit. The food could have been better if it was not so bland. If you drown it in red or green salsa is it...
Read moreExcellent food and the waitresses were wonderful! Diana waited on us and did a great job serving exactly what we wanted. I’ll label dishes after I upload these photos I’m visiting my cousin in the San Antonio in between looking for a place to buy in my home state, Texas. :)
I asked one waitress Eva if they serve sopapillas and she said yes. I explained that the guests, grandma and granddaughter who is 6, were visiting from Kansas.
Well, Eva had the chef prepare an extra special treat for the little one. The sopas were cut in dip sizes, served on foil with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Honey was in a small container so she could dip them. Then a bowl with honey and a spoon was provided for us to join in the fun and yummy desert.
Also, there was a bowl which had cinnamon and sugar blended perfectly.
Everything was delicious.
They even make the gorditas Mexico style in a pouch. Loved it. Salsa was good not too hot and warm chips.
It was a very enjoyable dining experience and for that reason and the extra special wait staff I send them my gratitude, thank you so much! See photos. :) I highly recommend their restaurant. This was the first time...
