I honestly came in for a quick grab on my way to work. But I left a little ticked off and hungry. Everything was fine until about five minutes of waiting another customer went up to workers and asked if his food was ready. The worker stuffing her mouth with chips and queso asked what was the name and the man responded. She said, “oh I’m sorry it’s right here” (directly in front of her for the past five minutes just sitting there getting cold). I then stepped away to the back of the restaurant to stand and wait for my food because this same woman and one of the chiefs never had their face masks on. As I waited another worker made a margarita. For who you ask? HERSELF. The same woman who was munching on the chips and queso went to the back (I prayed she was grabbing my food) but nope it was a burrito!! For who you ask? HERSELF. I then thought to myself two workers just standing around making food for themselves and eight people waiting for their food this doesn’t add up to me. Finally I went up to the workers gorging their food and alcoholic beverages how much longer my food would take (since I was the first of the eight of us there). The woman who took my order so I’ll go see. She went up to the chief and she said my name for my order and he looked at her with straight confusion. He looked at the ticket in front of him and asked if they placed the order on the app (which I didn’t)! The woman said no. And she came back to me and said he’s boxing it right now. Sure enough the order he was boxing wasn’t even mine!!! It was the woman who came in last!! Then after that I got my food and got the heck out of there. I should have gone to the downtown location because this one is backwards, slow,...

Stopped at Gomez for lunch the other day for the first time and I liked it a lot! I really like the simplicity of their menu. You have three options. A burrito, a burrito bowl or a turtle. To me, the turtle is like a gourmet, much better crunch wrap supreme from Taco Bell but with cheese on top. From their three options you then select your protein. They have probably 6-8 different meats or veggie options. Finally you select the style. The style is basically what else you want in it. A lot of these had to do with how spicy you wanted it. I got, I guess what you would call a Baja Barbacoa Turtle. It was great and I would definitely recommend it. I also got the chips and salsa and this part of the meal was honestly a big of a let down. The chips were good. Typically tortilla chips but seems like they had some lime salt on them like chipotle but the salsa was really bland. At least the medium salsa was. It didn’t have any spice and it really just seemed like diced up tomatoes in a cup. Much more pico de gallo than salsa but still missing things you find in that. With salsa in the name, I had high expectations for theirs and that part definitely left me wanting more. Maybe it was just that salsa. They do have about 8ish different salsa options so I will definitely give a different one a try the next...

This was recommended based off the OTR location so maybe I assumed incorrectly that quality would translate to other locations, but the experience I just had at this place was the worst I've had. To start, as I was placing my order a female employee threw a very public tantrum filled with profanities and stormed out of the restaurant. Stuff like that usually doesn't bother me, but it was so loud that a couple of other customers quickly gathered their things to leave. Secondly, the drinks we ordered were not served to us until after the food and after I asked for them. Lastly, immediately following our order the food runner started telling people they were closed even though they had two hours of operation according to the hours posted on the front door and on Google. I understand that certain things happen and given the state of the world being understaffed is common, but the way they handled it was just careless. He also kept calling people "big dog" and "boy". As someone who has worked in fields that require good customer service for many years, it was an all-around unprofessional, and disappointing experience. I won't be going back and I do not recommend it for anyone...

Can you give 6 stars? This place would be in consideration. It’s not a place you stumble on - you need to go find it. Tucked away in an up and coming neighborhood, the vibe was super cool. Nothing especially fancy, but this is a place you go to for the food. And the tacos are maybe best in Ohio. I’ve had my share of good tacos, especially in Columbus, but not sure anything else beats this. I went with the turtle taco. This place puts a stake in the ground on the question - “is a taco a sandwich”. At Gomez the answer is a resounding YES! The turtle has the taste of a taco and the feel of a sandwich. The taco shell was light and crispy and the taco was full of flavor throughout. The taco had the right amount of juiciness but not so much that greasy taco runs down your arm. The sauce on the top was the perfect amount - and so tasty. They offer plenty of meat options for your taco and while I was there I heard at least 5 tofu turtle orders. The list of toppings and sides is also robust. If you are anywhere near Cincinnati, come check out Gomez. You will leave full and eager to come back.

I’ve reviewed the Gomez Salsa OTR walk-up window before, but now that they have a location closer to home, we have enjoyed their food more often. Their Walnut Hills location features a full dining area and bar. The menu is unchanged though, turtles, tacos, burritos, and bowls. Orders are placed at the counter, and food is prepared just a fast as it is in OTR. The dining room has plenty of seats, plus a bar with plenty of draft beer choices and cocktails. For me, there is nothing better on the menu than a turtle, aka the Turtle Shell. They take a burrito sized tortilla, stuff it with all the goodies – rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce, salsa, meat, veggies, cheese, or anything else you’d like – then we seal it all up with an extra cheesy, tostada crunch! They offer 5 styles to choose from, my favorite is the southwestern (rice, black beans, fajitas, spicy crema, corn salsa, Verde salsa, lettuce, and cheese) with chicken. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!
