We stopped for a late lunch and enjoyed sitting out on the covered patio. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. Their patio is dog friendly for well-behaved canine companions, and there’s a decent amount of green spsce around the joint for giving your pup a break during a long drive.
I got the 2 meat sampler (brisket and bama chicken) with 2 sides (mac n cheese and greens), and it was more than enough for lunch. They’ve got a variety of sauces for every taste; I went with the sweet, lowco, and swine wine sauces.
The brisket was a bit tough and dry, requiring copious sauce. The flavor was good, though. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, with a slightly sweet taste…almost like chicken soup.
The greens seemed dry at first, but as I got past the top layer, they were moist and delicious. The mac n cheese was smooth and creamy, but not all that tasty…mixing in a little sauce helped give it life. The Texas toast was light and fluffy, but seemed to have no butter or seasoning on it. I could’ve gone without it.
The sweet tea was one of the best I’ve gotten from a restaurant chain. It wasn’t syrupy and had a smooth finish. I topped mine with a little lemonade, but it would’ve been fine without.
All things considered, I’d give it 3.5 stars, but considering we were there for a late lunch and the brisket may have had more time to dry out under the heat lamp than usual, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt...
Read moreI'm a die-hard City BBQ fan. Our entire family have been customers since the Reynoldsburg/Whitehall location opened. Our fam favorites are the beef brisket, the corn pudding and the green beans with bacon. Add the banana pudding to that list!! This new location is drop dead gorgeous inside and out. Excellent signage, fantastic colors, large clean lettering, top notch marketing strategy. I got excellent, intelligent, super fast service today. At 2:00 pm the restaurant was packed!! A huge nod to the success of this new location which is extremely visible from Rt. 23. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was bc of the confusion of which door to enter and then navigating thru the restaurant. It obviously doesn't impact sales but I felt bad walking through the customers eating on the patio to exit and barging past the employee refilling a drink machine on the other side of the restaurant. Everything was super clean including the parking lot. All-in-all, Circleville is really lucky to get a City BBQ!! Congrats!! 🎊Putting in a bid for...
Read moreI placed an online order. They claimed it would be ready in an hour. I received text after 15 minutes my order was being prepared so I headed to the restaurant for curbside pickup. I checked in as soon as I arrived and they said "The final touches" were being applied to my order and it would be ready shortly. Over 50 minutes later after 2 trips inside I was told they had no ribs. Not happy I substituted pulled pork. I asked to be credited for the ribs (I had to ask) which the manager did. They wanted to reward my poor service with banana pudding which I declined and ribs the next day which I also declined. When I get home ( almost 2 hours after the order was placed) nearly every part of the order was wrong. I got a brisket sandwich instead of pork, the sandwiches were to have buns on the side, didn't happen, no sauce was included, and we ordered and paid for a quart of peach cobbler and we got a small single serving instead. On top of all that the food was cold and mediocre at best. This place needs help badly if it...
