Coming from Seattle, I really didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that they had some ice cream. So I kept an open mind, and my first impressions immediately changed when we first walked in.
The environment seemed super friendly and inviting and I could really tell it was definetly a family place. It was pretty packed in there too! Pretty much every booth was filled and there was a birthday party happening, but there were dividers between every table and all employees wore masks.
My favorite part of coming here though was looking at the menu. It was so cool looking at all the crazy creations of ice cream on the menu. I have never been to a place like Leatherby's before. However, my eyes immediately caught onto the "Daddy Dave's." First off, absolutely LOVE the name, I thought it was hilarious but what made it better is that I call one of my friends "Dave." Just based off the name, I really wanted to get the "Daddy Dave's," but there were no pictures of it on the menu so I was confused. Then i looked at one of the walls and saw a huge imagine of what seemed to be the "Daddy Dave's," but next to the picture were several pictures of people. Now I knew that the "Daddy Dave's" was the real deal, and probably humongous. That just made me more excited and so when we asked the server what exactly was in it, his response was "Well, there is like three pounds of icecream, and you probably won't be hungry for a week." I loved the response, but unfortunately we didn't get the "Daddy Dave's."
I ended up getting the black & tan which is creamy vanilla and toasted almond ice cream drowned in their famous homemade caramel and chocolate fudge. Just by the description my mouth was already watering. We also got some garlic fries and Rich's Banana Split.
Just looking at the ice cream creation in front of me looked incredible. Taking that first bite is just magical. Everything combined works in harmony and every bite after that gets better. So many delicious flavors all in one. You have the creamy, saltiness and nuttiness from the almond ice cream and MAN, that fudge is fudging delicious!! So gooey, and rich and chocolatey. Then that caramel sauce at the bottom was kinda hard to reach but that was also amazing because it was sticky and salty. I destroyed the black and tan and I still feel like I could have more, it was just that good.
Then the garlic fries were very solid as well. The rich garlic was pretty overwhelming but really packed a punch and really packed that distinct garlicy flavor. The fries were also very crisp.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience and the ice cream. Hopefully next time I can try out the "Daddy Dave's." On one note though, the ice cream is good, but defiently isn't the best. I think it is the insane creations and combos that make this place so great, but if it was just the ice cream by itself it would be a...
Read moreI’ve been following all the new flavors and creative ice cream concoctions for over a year and FINALLY made the drive out of town to try. As a family of little ones, it’s hard to dine in so my husband and I reviewed the menu online so he could run inside for a to go order. I was very excited to try the ice cream and talked it up to my husband who was also super excited. I ordered the maddy’s malt madness and my husband was told that that item is not served anymore, but that they could make it up for us. My husband ordered an Oreo shake. What could go wrong with that right? It took us just but the first taste of each to discover that the quality and flavor is seriously lacking. What happened?? Everything that is advertised looks absolutely amazing. How can ice cream taste so bad. I believe my item was also made incorrectly. It’s listed to have milk chocolate ice cream but I received vanilla with chocolate pieces or something of that sort? The ice cream was also so frost bitten, and the chocolate fudge was more like syrup and sooo runny. This was not the worst of it. The Oreo shake had the absolute worst burnt taste! What a waste, we had to throw it out. Maybe the blender burnt up making it? I just don’t know. Something was definitely wrong with that one, because I’ve never tasted such a bad Oreo shake. It’s going to take some serious convincing to have my husband give this place another shot. Maybe it was just the wrong location to try. Very disappointed after such a long...
Read moreFirst time coming here with 2 adults and 2 young kids. They have outdoor seating which is nice. They have space heaters in a covered space so you'll be warm enough. No issues getting a table but they easily get backed up considering social distancing.
All the staff members we interacted with were super helpful and friendly. Very understanding and exhibited patience to the kids.
Service was outstanding.
I got the California burger and we made our own banana split with strawberry and pineapple toppings. The flavors we chose were toasted almond and pistachio nut. Between the two, I much prefer the toasted almond. Tasted much better. Could taste the toasted almonds. The pistachio was almost too sweet. The banana split is easily enough for 4-5 ppl.
As for the burger, they couldn't cook it medium rare but the degree to which they cooked it to was fine. The burger was moist and included appropriate proportions of lettuce, tomato, avocado, and onions. I would have preferred the buns to be more toasted but it was a great burger. I was actually quite surprised given it was at a Creamery. This place could easily outperform some other burger places. Their fries were also very good and appropriately seasoned. They weren't over oily either.
There is ample parking.
I would highly recommend this place and would definitely come...
