This was one of the worst experiences I've EVER had at a restaurant. I called in an order for delivery, and a very rude man took my order, and credit card number. he said the food would take 45 minutes. Almost two hours later, the same obnoxiously rude man showed up wanting me to pay him in cash. I had given my credit card because I only had 6 dollars, which I showed to him, but he insisted I didn't give him a card. There is no mistake that I gave hime the card over the phone, because he read it back to me 5 times. He was actually shouting at me at the door and I just wanted him to leave, and I was starving, so I stupidly gave him my credit card number again. When I opened the food, I was even more upset. The pizza was ice cold and shriveled up, the mozzarella sticks were ice cold and gross, all dough with no extra sauce. My "greek" salad was some wilted warm lettuce with only feta and black olives, no extra dressing. I called the restaurant and the rude man answered and screamed at me in the phone "If you don't like the food, then too bad don't back"and hung up on me. I took the cold crappy food up to the restaurant and put it on the counter. He started screaming at me refusing to give me a refund saying he would call the cops. And say what exactly I wonder?, "a customer didn't like our crappy food and even worse service"? I left the food and have already called my credit card company to reverse the charges. Restaurant was completely empty so I'm guessing others feel the same way, or had similar experience. It's too late for me, but save yourselves!! ...
Read moreFirst timer and I’m giving them 3 stars only because the Florentine pizza was good...not the traditional look of a Florentine I’m used to , but everything was there just kinda all run together...Delivery was super fast, however I would not have minded if they had slowed down a bit, and that’s where my review drops to barely 2 stars...The $8 ceasar salad was served with Italian dressing and was just a bit past it’s serve by time...now on to the desserts, I got two of the same thing...chocolate cake, which wouldn’t have been so bad but it looked as though the containers had been rolled around with the cake inside leaving the icing everywhere but on the cake..! and didn’t get the 2 extra chocolate sauce cups that was ordered... and finally, I’m pretty certain that I read $15 minimum for free delivery, but right at check out I notice a $3 delivery fee and a $3 service fee?? So in all, one lg pizza, ceasar salad and 2 desserts with 2 extra little cups of chocolate cost me just over $60, and like I said, the pizza was good but this was by far not a $60 dollar meal... I would like to add that I make a conscious decision to go with locally owned businesses and having said that I guess it leaves you feeling a bit more let down in a way, because I certainly don’t mind paying more if it’s worth it...I will give them another chance, but I think I will call it in myself next time, there’s a whole lot more value in talking to a real...
Read moreA few weeks ago, on my flight to Las Vegas, I sat next to an older couple that were originally from Brooklyn but had lived in Tampa for nearly 30 years. As we chatted off & on throughout the flight, the subject of pizza arose... and I lamented that I'd never found a decent NY style pizza in the Tampa Bay area. Lots of great pizza, yes, but never a slice that tasted distinctly NYC. This couple strongly recommended Anthony's New York Style Pizza, and I knew I had to try it.
Since that Las Vegas trip, I have also been back to the city, and was able to remind my tastebuds of what NY-style pizza should be... and I'm delighted to discover that Anthony's is remarkably close! Their pizzas are made fresh, right behind the counter; they offer lots of toppings & several pizza sizes. But I went with plain cheese, so I could fully taste all of it. The flavor of the crust is spot on, with an excellent texture, although it is a bit thicker than I expected. The sauce was not overpowering, but more of a sweet backdrop to the thick layer of cheese. Anthony's New York Style Pizza really does embody its name!
Howard also ordered a 12" Philly Cheesesteak, which was quite delicious. They have lunch specials from 11am-3pm, and on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, they offer a medium 1-topping pizza for $7.99. I'm glad Anthony's New York Style Pizza isn't far from my house... I'm ready for...
