Went to your location on West Hillsborough Ave on Aug 29, 2024 and it was the worst experience ever! I am a rewards member and go to Golden Corral frequently and spent 78.00 this particular time as I brought along my daughter mother and brother. Unfortunately, the food was not up to par at all. The lemon pepper wings were undercooked. The fruit was overripe and not replenished. The salad bar wasn’t stocked at all. My initial encounter wasn’t even good as when I walked in there were only 2 glasses and nothing else. My brother and I seeing this got the plastic to go cups. We were charged additional for these cups despite no glasses being available. In spite of we ate there what we could that appeared to be done well. Unfortunately my mother and I did become ill after eating there. We spoke with the manager Austin via telephone and expressed our concerns and displeasure with the service. He apologized and stated that he would write my name down and put 2 free buffets for me since only 2 got sick and to try to make things right. I came in there with my family to redeem my coupon tonight.
I encountered darn near the same situation. Once again there were no glasses available. People were taking and being charged for the plastic cups. I asked to speak with the manager as Austin had advised so that I could redeem 2 buffets and pay for the other 2. The woman who said she was the manager but never gave her name came with such a nasty aura and attitude to start with. She was short black and heavyset. After explaining what was said, she said that we don’t give coupons but what’s your name and I will check. I gave her the name and she went to office and got on the phone, I don’t know who it was but I presume it was Austin. She came out phone to eat and said what was the problem? We said 2 of us got sick, she cut me off and said oh well with food poisoning we require proof of hospital or doctor. Firstly, I never said anything of the sort and then this was never said during the conversation with Austin. I told her in top of that there were food issues and lack of glass issues. Her response was my servers have glasses in the back so that’s not an issue. ???? Glasses being in the back don’t help customers in the front. She was very confrontational and rude. I decided to end this interaction as well as my relationship with this restaurant and leave. I went to another restaurant and fed my family. However, this scene in front of my family when nothing was done wrong on our part was disgraceful! We walked in and literally had to drink from a children's plastic cup as ALL the cups were dirty and some were sticking to each other and the plates OMG had food stuck to them now the silver wears had white spots and when picked up had crust on them😳. I asked for plastic and was told I had to play extra for it by the Manager whom was rude from the start after being told it was dirty😡. The way her attitude was and rolled her eyes and replied to me, I told her excuse me I'm not one of your workers nor your child to be rude and nasty because I can be just as rude and nasty. I proceeded to tell her I will be contacting the health department as I took photos she then replied very rude to go ahead and then raced to the back and that's when all plate and silver wears had started to be loaded and removed to the back. We literally washed our own plates and utensils in the bathroom 😡 The waitress never refilled anything my husband did it himself. And once more as for the Manager could be seen reprimanding and yelling at employees at the entrance by the snack bar in front of all customers. I asked for the boss and was told by the Manager with attitude she is the boss and that she was in charge, I asked for her boss and was told any complaints will have to go through her and him as he was not available. Before I left I was informed that the boss boss Joe/Joel had just left with no knowledge of what was going on. I took a picture of the Manager as I plan to complain about her and of the issue. And I will be contacting the health department if not handled it is very nasty to pay to eat in those types of conditions 🤢 and the manager really needs to be trained to deal with customers and learn to properly run an establishment. As well as if you feel your employment workers are at anytime wrong speak in private NOT wear all customers can see and hear😡 or just get a better management worker. And I will not post the photos on the site, but they will be included in the complaint to the health department as well as the photos of the bathroom 😡 NEVER again will I or my family eat at this place. Read moreI my wife who had lost her grandmother and has been struggling with her health, finally agreed for me to take her out along with our pregnant 25 year old daughter and our 2 granddaughters ages 3 and 7. We arrive on a Wednesday apparently 5 minutes before closing and there was no mentioning of the place getting ready to close. As we are eating a server mentioned we are going to be closing, so my wife was like ok. We haven’t been here 15 minutes but we will gladly put all in to go containers. How ever they stopped us to recharge us, so my wife tells the lady I have a recipient with time stamp just charge me the difference and the Maneger was “like no you’re paying full amount!” My wife looked at me and look at our family and back at the lady and said quote on quote. mam, why are you being so cruel and wicked if I’m not trying to get a free bee I am simply trying to get my moneys worth and you clearly see that I was rung up 5 minutes before closing…….and it’s not right to be rushed out after so to be fare again just charge me the difference of what it weighs instead of throwing it out and over charging me. But again she was bothered with my wife and my wife was back and forth for about another 20 minutes when she realized wait, this lady has managed this place since it reopened and has given away plenty of food according to one of her workers who whispered it to my wife in Spanish so at that point my wife who just lost her grandmother/mother and aunt a week apart was simply exhausted and she try to please our daughter and granddaughters. I told my wife honey know worries just post a review that type of customer service definitely needs to be looked upon. Because truth be told it was best for her to make another 30.00 dollars than just toss it away like she did and to top it if she did it in front of our little ones, showing off her mean lady side!
