I’ve always enjoyed visiting Village Inn restaurants but this one has a different vibe. The food was mediocre at best. This location was practically empty during an early afternoon visit. I counted two other occupied tables but the food took more than 30 minutes to reach our table.
I’m not sure if it was the kitchen or the waitress who took their time serving it. Our server was horrendous. We had to ask for coffee and tea refills twice. She was usually found standing near the kitchen laughing with other staff. When she was at the tables, she was yelling and cackling over peoples food. It’s hard to enjoy your meal when someone is high pitch chortling in your ear. She is more than I cared to deal with. I would prefer no one stand stand over a table full of food and project spittle everywhere. That goes for Covid or no Covid, it’s just plain gross.
The inside of this location very old and it shows. At first glance, it’s hard to see the grime but it’s there upon closer inspection. If you look at the ceiling, you may lose your appetite. But let’s be real, most people don’t usually look up. We didn’t until after we ordered and ate our food. I’ve posted pictures to show how filthy it is. The windows could do with a scrub down or two as well. Based on how gross the ceiling tiles are, we will not return to this location. If the dining area is this dirty, I don’t even want to see the behind the scenes in the kitchen.
Overall, I expect delicious food, great service and a clean establishment. This location has none of those things to offer. I could overlook the waitress because I’m sure there are other great servers who work here and I won’t hold it against them. I could also chalk up the mediocre food to a bad day or bad cook. However, I can not and will not overlook a disgusting dining room in need of deep cleaning.
With all of this in mind, if you still decide to visit, don’t look up. Enjoy the extra flavor (dust) from above, blown out ear drums and...
Read moreUpdated Feb 2025. Today, we went to use the Valentine coupon (2 entrees and 2 pies slices).. after we had already ordered, I realized that it's only food from a specific menu, which was not given to us with the regular menu. Very frustrating that the special menu was up at the register, where you pay, after you eat.. Are you kidding me!? Obviously, I should have really read the coupon specifics, but it should've been given to us along with their regular menu. Young woman at register.. completely ignored what we were saying about it. Just sketchy and sad. Food was fine. Updated. Everything was very good today, and we enjoyed our visit and lunch. Been going here for decades and hope to continue. Wasn't sure if I should update this review, but it's so sad to see the quality still going downhill. There is a lot of competition (especially since restaurant across the street has opened back up) but I'm hoping V-Inn can step up and get back to the quality as before. How do you get hard cold pancakes here? Why would anyone serve that and greasy eggs? I've been coming to this place for over 40 years.. no one should ever put that on a plate for the customer. I guess some just eat it anyway. But things like that and slow service keep faithful customers falling away. I don't want to stop going but this keeps happening, always sending cold or overly greasy food back. Hope it can get back on track and get the quality it used to have. It used to be a favorite of ours in this area, now its just a, fall back on, place and we keep fingers crossed with the food. It's been here for a long time and I hope it can keep up and serve the quality I know it has...
Read moreHomely, the layout and the different colored chairs reminded me of the comfort if home. Also, the shape of the roofs & facade plus the name "village inn" made me think of "Howard Johnson" hotels. I'm accustomed to Denny's restaurants which are affordable and the food is tasty...the menu of Village Inn was similar but seemed pricier/more expensive. I did not see anything for less than $7.00 . The food was good..I was hungry for breakfast for dinner, so, that's what I ate. The large, oval plate with 2 -2-2 eggs, sausage, pancakes & hashbrowns + hot cocoa, cost me $12.90 more or less. So, it tasted fresh, almost homemade, it was less franchise-like than Denny's in look & flavor but it was far more expensive than $4.99 (r u outa your mind?). If I were in a wheelchair I could maneuver easily inside, the host was an elegant, dark, African looking man named B.J. and there were all races inside the restaurant. Lastly, the restroom was cramped and the door swung to the inside, while the counter/sink to wash hands is dangerously close. Anyone over 100 lbs. Is going to get slammed. They need to increase the size of their women's toilets. Period. There were no TVs to distract me from my mindful eating and I enjoyed myself. Plenty of free parking. Of course, due to Covid 19 one must wear a mask, but it was all...
