We drove around looking for a breakfast spot (time was between breakfast and lunch). We noticed Lina's Restaurant, in the corner, next to Michael's, where the Riviera Restaurant used to be. We were greeted by a pleasant host who immediately sat us.
Our server, SHERRY, came right over to our table with menus and since we have never been there, answered all our questions and offered suggestions.
The menu is full of many great choices, both American and Greek options, and quite affordable! It was a tough decision, due to all the many delicious choices offered!!! We opted for breakfast.
After Sherry took our order, the restaurant's owner, LINA, came over to our table to greet us and thank us for coming. She was so pleasant and we so enjoyed chatting with her! Her heart is truly in it, that's for sure! Your complete satisfaction is her #1 priority!
Looking around the restaurant while waiting for our breakfast, we noticed how sparkling clean the restaurant was!!!
There were a lot of customers in the restaurant, which is always a sure sign of delicious, affordable food!
After a not-so-long wait, our breakfast was served, piping hot and WOW!!! I ordered an egg with cheese and bacon sandwich on wheat toast. It looked and smelled sooo good! The portions were plentiful and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS with a true homemade taste!!! They didnt scrimp on anything! My egg sandwich was loaded with bacon and the cheez melted nicely on the scrambled eggs! Superb!!!
Our server Sherry, was so pleasant and very attentive to our needs! She was telling us about other great, popular items on the menu, and also their yummy homemade desserts!
Since it was a late breakfast, we decided to try the authentic Rice Pudding she mentioned and boy, were we ever pleasantly surprised how delicious and authentic it was!!!
We already plan to go again (tomorrow for lunch), as the menu had some excellent options!!
Awesome 1st time experience!!! Try it, you'll be...
Read moreI had heard about Lina’s by people commenting how good it was on the Nextdoor app. This past Friday I had an appointment and was going to meet a friend at a different restaurant and as I was driving from my appointment I had remembered the comments from the people on Nextdoor so I called him and we changed plans and met up at Linas. Our waitress Margarita did a wonderful job taking care of us. I was unsure of what to order so she recommended the smash burger and my friend ordered one of the gyro plates. Everything was delicious. I had also ordered the rice pudding due to someone’s comment on that. That too was superb. It had a unique flavor that made it extremely tasty. Also Lina stopped by our table to ask how everything was and we spoke a little about the restaurant and in conversation she had mentioned that they also had brownies and blueberry muffins so I added them to my order to take home. There was a slight delay because in the afternoon she bakes the muffins to order. I then decided to go outside and smoke while waiting and began speaking with a gentleman outside that worked there. Turned out that he was Lina’s husband Kal. We had a nice conversation and were joined by Lina for a few minutes and she and I chatted some more. Afterwards we went back inside and in a few minutes our take out muffins and brownies were ready. I had told Lina that I would be leaving a good review on Nextdoor as that is where I heard about this restaurant and she asked me if I could leave one here as well. I told her that I would and so here it is. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It is in the Michael’s shopping plaza on the southeast corner of the parking lot. I definitely recommend for everyone to patronize this restaurant. You will not be...
Read moreWell months after leaving my original review below my family and I decided to give lenas another chance. I'm glad we did. While I still dearly miss the Riveria, Leanas is doing a good job. They have added some decor inside and have a new friendly staff. The food was good, hot and fresh. Based on this most recent experience, they may have earned a regular.
They ruined an institution. The Riveria has been a staple in the carrollwood community for over 25 years, even with ownership changes. Not anymore. Lina, the new owner has completely changed the place. Menu shrank, atmosphere went from cozy to bland with plain white walls and no decor. Many of the long time staff is gone. I just don't get why someone would think these were good changes. The restaurant was successful for a reason. My family used go there every Sunday. Staff knew us by name, and we always felt welcomed. Won't be returning with all these changes. Hopefully when this new iteration runs it's course, someone comes in a returns the place to its...
