Full disclosure, but for one particular interaction with the server this would have probably been a 3 star review.
The sides that come with their breakfast options are hashbrowns, home fries, or grits. A low carb option would have been nice. Similarly, I asked if I could get avocado instead of toast and was informed there is no avocado anywhere in the restaurant. I'm not sure how one operates a breakfast establishment with no avocado in anything but that definitely detracts from my enjoyment.
To compound both of these issues their omelets are "3 egg omelets" and while I know eggs come in various sizes so they technically could be using 3 small eggs, these were the smallest omelets I've seen in a while. I left hungry because of the various issues noted above.
As mentioned, all of that is fine and I probably would have given them a 3 star review and told folks it wasn't for me but your mileage may vary. However, when the food came, the Cuban omelet I was expecting (one of that days specials) was a chorizo omelet (another of the daily specials). I told the waitress about the mistake and she argued with me that I had in fact told her I wanted the chorizo omelet and that is what she wrote down. Now I'll be the first to admit that I am human and may have misspoke, I'll also recognize that she is also most likely human and may have written it down incorrectly or even misheard me. Regardless of where the fault lies, that isn't why I'm upset. I'm upset because the first time in my life I was assured that I had on fact said I wanted a chorizo omelet and that is what I was getting.
I've worked as a server. Things happen, mistakes are made, by guests, by servers, by the kitchen. A mistake is no big deal but when a guest politely points out that the meal they received isn't the meal they wanted the top priority should immediately become getting them the meal they are telling you they want. Instead I was told I ordered it and that is what I get. It's a shame. I was looking forward to trying the Cuban omelet. Because of this interaction I chose not to tip and am leaving this one star review (two things I almost never do).
I'll probably avoid them in the future. There are plenty of great breakfast places around town and this one only stuck out because of the lack of options and the poor attitude of the employees toward...
Read moreGood food, good service, good atmosphere., Good location. It's so nice to have a good breakfast place close to home. Omelette was very good, I chose the ingredients and it was plenty juicy, which is a challenge for many restaurants. My husband says it's some of the best oatmeal he's eaten across many restaurants in many years. I learned today that many other restaurants put pancake batter in omelettes, which can dry them out but make them look bigger, not here! And many restaurants make a big pot of oatmeal for the day, not here, where they make it fresh for each customer! The owner was checking on people and greeting people and taking money at the door. The place was neat and clean and had a nice open welcoming feeling. The home fires were a bit dark from sticking to the pan but that's probably unusual. I will definitely be back!
It was so good I went back today and ate lunch there and it was phenomenal! The "Western toast" was like an omelet between two grilled breads and was outstanding, Ike an omelette sandwich. My husband loved his mama's toast with meatloaf and cheese on the grilled breads, excellent and very filling, he couldn't eat it all. French fries were excellent with a seasoning or something on them. Coleslaw good. Today we were greeted by the female owner Gina, who explained that her husband Stefano we met last week was working their New Port Richey restaurant. We loved the"beignets" which were toasted pastries covered with powdered sugar and served with dunkiing or dripping on the top hot fudge. The owners are Greek and got the idea for the"toast" in Europe when her friend ordered nothing but toast and got a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Delightful place, owners, food, service from Cheryl, and restaurant! Our new favorite breakfast or lunch place in Odessa/...
Read moreTOAST Citrus Park popped up on my suggestions for breakfast places to try near Citrus Park Mall and it was a total disappointment. The food was not the best and the place didn't look great as you can see little details that are just hard not to look at and you pair it with a waitress that didn't care much for us until the very end at least it seemed. Our waitress didn't seem to like that we wanted to sit outside and didn't elaborate on some of the items since the menu has no description of what you're getting in some things. I ordered the Tuna Melt, it came on Rye bread, but no description of it on the menu, not everybody likes Rye bread, I'm an example of that so I asked my mother-in-law to try it since she likes Rye bread, she liked it but she said it was getting too soggy in the middle, on the bright side I liked the Mediterranean fries but definitely not the coleslaw. My mother-in-law got the parfait and it came deconstructed with fruit that is not unique to parfaits and lastly we ordered bananas and strawberries crepes and that was what I believe the biggest disappointment, the crepes were inconsistent, one had the texture of cardboard and the other very rubbery, maybe some parts had the right texture and again on the bright side, the muffin was really good, just a little too sweet in the middle but definitely enjoyable. Now it's imperative that they clean better, the outside area was filthy, it's like they didn't at least sweep before opening and then looking through the glass you could see a car toy underneath one of the tables inside and little sauce cups. The place looks immaculate inside, lighting was perfect but those little details undid everything. Definitely not coming back to this place, it was an...
