As a ginger with no soul, I can honestly say that the second I took the first bite, I knew what it was like to have soul. WOW!
I ordered The Fried chicken wing meal, picked my three sides. Cornbread, Mac & Cheese, and potato salad. I now patiently awaited a meal I knew I needed.
When it arrived I tipped the driver, and nearly ran over a coworker, not because I was trying to catch a Pokemon, but because I couldn't wait to try the food I couldn't thing about.
I first laid eyes on the potato salad, I could tell it was a mustard based salad from first glace. This is how it's done. Next, I opened my mealbox. I find not only some nicely sized wings laying on top of a heafty portion of Mac & cheese, and a giant piece of cornbread, but also a side of rice & beans. The smell, the smell had me floating in the air like pepe lepew chasing after a freshly painted female cat.
I first bit into the chicken, that's when I felt it...... WOW! It was like James Brown came back from the grave and was having a concert on my tounge. No dry, heat lamp soaked chicken here. This was perfectly moist, flavorful, delcious chicken with a good amount of meat.
Next up was the mac & cheese. The second I saw it, I was in love. You could tell it was perfectly cooked. The cheese was perfect throughout, noodles the perfect texture. Next time, I'm tempted to just order two servings of Mac & cheese next time.
Now on to the cornbread. I always fear cornbread. You can never tell if it's going to break your teeth from being so dry or not. Except Allie B's cornbread. One look and you can see how perfect this cornbread is. A little bit of crumbs falling out of my mouth, i find myself saying "This is fricken amazing" with two coworkers watching me drop corn bread out of my mouth onto the floor. I had no shame as nothing could be wrong in this moment.
I kept the rice & beans till last, not being a bean lover. I picked around the small amount of beans and scooped up some rice. While I could hardly take two bites before I realized I had no more room. It was fantastic, but at this point, I had to put down the fork....... until I realized the potato salad was waiting for me under the bag I set on top of it.
I took one bite, then another, then another. I nearly ate half the container before I realized yet again, another bite might result in my stomach exploding, and as amazing as all the food was, my time with it for the day is done.
I want to thank you for the amazing home cooked meal you guys made. This is the food that warms up your heart. Will order...
Read moreThis was the most disappointing place I’ve ordered from in a very long time, I was craving soul food and saw this place pop but and tried my luck and struck out. Me and my brother tried everything below and these are our opinions I’ll use a rating scale of 0-10 (0 being bad and 10 being amazing). Let’s start with the sides. We order collard greens but it got subbed for vegetable for the day which was cabbage, the cabbage had zero flavor no seasoning no even salt and pepper, extremely over cooked. Next side was potatoes salad again zero flavor. Next macaroni and cheese sadly this was super disappointing as well not a lot of cheese just noodles with minor cheese and it didn’t taste great. Lastly we had canned yams this was the saving grace for each tray the yams were great sweet and flavorful and cook to perfection. Overall the sides only 3/10 Now onto the main courses, the baked turkey wings are not good. The turkey had no flavor meat was tinder but again zero seasoning and texture wasn’t great 0/10. Next the BBQ pork ribs, very good loved the sauce and the ribs were not tough, but did not have a lot of meat. 7/10 with their signature bbq house sauce 9/10. Next we have the grilled bbq chicken, very disappointing the chicken had way to many charred parts and it runnier everything it was just burned underneath, sauce was decent but because it’s was so charred that’s all you could taste juicy on top and white meat inside 5/10. Lastly the fired chicken wings, these were amazing seasoned the flavor amazingly and fried them perfectly I’d recommend trying 10/10 with bbq sauce 1000/10. We did try their chili shrimp tasty but wanted more 7/10. Corn bread was bland 5/10. We ordered chocolate cake but I have to assume they ran out or got our order wrong, but regardless the cake they gave us was tough with no flavor even the frosting lacked sweetness and flavor. Sadly I wouldn’t order from this place again. But please try them out and from your...
Read moreCozy Kitchen on Clinton Ave Albany No can do👎🏾👎🏾..... Here's why... 👇🏾 I went by this place this afternoon according to their on line information they don't open until 1:00 pm in the afternoon so I thought hummmmm🤔💬 most lunch starts at 11:00 definitely by 12 but I figured Ok ¯(ツ)/¯😏 .....so I did all my errands to wait til then. I got there at 1:00 hungry😬😏 they were not open, bare in mind there was a lady at the door stocking beverages in the cooler that saw me through the window as I asked repeatedly "are you open" but she totally ignored me😳. So I waited a minute thinking she would acknowledge me but she continued about her business so I tapped on the window she opened the curtain looked at me and closed the curtain still ignoring me🙄 I thought how rude. So I left and went up the street to Roy's Caribbean restaurant on Henry Johnson Blvd who btw starts at 11:00 am....and got takeout lunch to the tune of $40+ but the lady was very kind and friendly yet busy getting the food out to her customers. Good deal👍🏾.... Costly but Golden🙄 ¯(ツ)/¯ Thank for your referral tho to the Cozy Kitchen but I won't be returning. Thought they looked kind of doubtfully sketchy from the start but considered your suggestion. No reflection on you tho. Just reporting the experience for me. Not...
