We went to michael angelos on a saturday night around 7:45-8 and business was booming. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated. When we were finally seated we had waited and waited and waited some more, almost to the point we thought they forgot we were there. When our waiter came to our table he greeted us with nothing but smiles and laughter making the wait time easily forgotten. He explained that it was only him and another waitress working tables that night which made it very easy to sympathize with them. He gave us some great recommendations some of which we ordered. We ordered a Medium sized pizza pie, an order of calamari & an order of chicken parmesan. The pizza & garlic knots were delicious! The calamari was great & the dipping sauce was awesome! but the chicken parm kind of sold its self short :( The chicken wasn’t very crispy and the sauce on it almost tasted like the pizza sauce :( I was expecting much more from the chicken parm. but what i can say is the food was all very very fresh! We enjoyed our food & our belly’s were very full afterwards. Our waiter came by to check on things periodically through the meal & brought drinks over with out asking. The one thing that was quite a turn off was one of the bus boys... he was slamming things and throwing things everywhere. He slammed our garlic knots on the table which i didn’t feel was nice. Also while cleaning up one of the other tables he was flinging things everywhere. Food, forks, small handouts that were supposed to be on the table. That made us feel super uncomfortable. He must’ve been having a bad night. Other than that small hiccup things were great. I recommend this italian spot to anyone looking to fill their belly’s for a reasonable price. We will DEFINITELY be...
Read moreThis is a great, casual spot for family-style Italian food. The portions here are pretty large, the good thing about that is the leftovers! I’ve had their pizza a few different times throughout the years and it hasn’t been consistent, so I get their other items instead. This time, we ordered fried calamari as an appetizer, the Chicken Francese and Pasta Pomodori. I love that the bread for the table is their garlic knots. The fried calamari was excellent, it was hot and crisp, not rubbery at all, and their sauce had a slight kick but not too hot; very good. I’d get this again. The portion was so large it could feed a group of people. The Pasta Pomodori was very flavorful, I’ve had it another time and it was good then too. The Chicken Francese sauce tasted a bit too sweet for me, like there was an actual sugar taste to it. I’m not sure if they added sugar to try the balance the acidity of the lemon juice, or if the white wine they use is a sweeter variety. There was definitely something too sweet there.
Aside from the sauce, the chicken itself was a very generous portion and it was cooked beautifully! It was a thick cutlet of chicken breast cooked all the way through and still so tender and juicy, I could use a fork to cut it. I may try a different chicken option here as the chicken was perfect but the sauce was the only issue for me. This is a nice spot to try, but go with someone that will let you try what they get too so you have some different ideas...
Read moreFood is amazing. Servers are fast, friendly and efficient and not in your face the whole time you're there. It's not fancy in there. Not in the least. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't your place. And you're most likely going to have to wait for a table. It's worth it. You absolutely positively canNOT leave hungry. Portions are generous. Gravy (tomato sauce) is simple and very very tasty. It's not perfect, for sure. None of the times we've gone there has water been automatically brought to the table. Garlic knots, yes, but not water. They'll bring if it you ask, but most Italian places just bring it automatically. And, I have to mention it... Flies. So many flies. Doesn't seem to bother people, though - since the place is always packed. It bothers me to have those disgusting creatures flying all over while you're trying to enjoy your meal. They spend their miserable lives sitting on food and garbage, which means when they land on your food, they share whatever they've landed on with you. There must be a way for the restaurant to cut down on the flies. As for the prices: very reasonable. This is a place you could eat at several times a week and not break the budget. AND - they take Gluten Free very seriously. Their menu even has a page devoted to GF options! Parking sucks. But that's because it's popular and provides a great product, so you'll just have to deal with taking a little extra time to find a spot to park. Again...
