We were hopeful and excited being the out of towners that this would be nice dining experience. We were sorely disappointed. But first the positive because fair is fair and I am not one to cast shame without acknowledging where effort is made. The positive: staff were very friendly and we were pleased with how quickly we were seated, especially because the first restaurant we went to turned us away because we didn't have reservations. From the moment we sat down our waitress was attentive, polite and checked back multiple times. The restaurant as a whole seemed clean and also by all appearances was a popular place to eat.

The negative: for 140$ Dinner, WAY over priced for the quality of food you are getting. Both my wife and I ordered filet mignon and lobster tail. And we ordered a seared sea scallop appetizer (biggest concern and frustration with the app, get to that in a moment). The filet was mediocre at best, very dry and without flavor. The lobster tail again mediocre and Ive tasted better at those large chains that we would rather not go to, I wish we did tonight. Now for the concern...Beware! We were served scallops with one of them being spoiled, I knew by the mouth full of ammonia taste I had when I bit into it. It was terrible and brought tears to my eyes. I immediately brought this to the waitress' attention and she apologized up and down (doing a great job with customer service 👏). She returned moments later and informed us that the restaurant offered to buy us a dessert for our trouble. To which we politely declined. We then got our bill. 140.00$ and the appetizer was still on the bill. ??? Where is management, where is the ownership here folks? We are talking about possible food poisoning! Disappointed yes! Poor dining experience yes! Potential in your restaurant Absolutely! Posting this review on other sites....yes and yes. Calling health department, maybe, I will see what the next few hours...

Stopped in for dinner mid-week. To start, the drink order was incorrect as 2 different beers were ordered but the server brought out the same for both of us. The "flash fried calamari" served with marinara came out fast, crispy and hot. Looks can be deceiving as the calamari was bland and tasteless. The batter was lifeless and NO salt was added after it came out of the fryer. Unless requested by the customer, not salting food (especially after frying) is beyond amateur. The marinara was too chunky for dipping. The fresh baked rolls are always delicious and the tossed salad was fresh. The hamburger, ordered medium rare, arrived medium and sloppy on the plate. The burger itself had an odd taste like there was food residue from a dirty grill. The broiled New England platter left much to be desired. It looked more sauteed than broiled. Seafood cooking times vary and it was evident that the shrimp, scallops, and haddock were cooked at the same time. The shrimp was rock hard, scallops just passed and the haddock was over-cooked and parts were hard and crunchy. Once again the entire entree was bland! There was no evidence of "Chardonnay wine, garlic and herbs, finished with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon" ever being used. A bit of salt and pepper would have been nice too. The mixed seasonal vegetables were under-cooked/raw and bland. Raw zucchini & yellow squash..yuck. The carrots were out of the bag with little care for standards. The rice pilaf was mush (and it is usually very good). I have given Sam's countless tries through the years but this will be my last visit. A restaurant like this lowers the standards for the...

I am completely disgusted with the service I received last night, Sunday 1/24. My husband & I have been dining in every Sunday since they have reopened post COVID shutdown. The Sunday prior my son order mac & cheese and I ordered penne al vodka. My sons dish was not cooked at all and there was more cheese than pasta. The dish I received was not vodka sauce but more of a creamy tomato. This was very uncommon for us to have any complaints so I asked our waiter if there was someone new in the kitchen. He told me, the bartender is on the line. So that explained our unsatisfactory dinners we were served. Last night, I wasn't feeling so great and opted for takeout. When I called I wanted to be reassured the bartender was not cooking so I was not disappointed yet again. The male who answered the phone told me no. I called back to place my togo order and a female answered "what do you want", then hung up the phone. I called back a third time and they answered the phone "Peking" (chinese establishment in Johnstown), then hung up. I called back again 2x and they again answered the phone and then immediately hung up. Our bill always exceeds $100 and being a former waitress, we always tip well above 20%. We will never give business to Sam's Seafood and Steak again. The unprofessional, immature hooligans on the phone last night should be ashamed...

Watch out for disgruntled Salt Bae in the back. But hear me out first. Half of what we ordered was heaven; only the other half felt like the Salt Bae's evil twin got to some of our dishes; I'm going to call him Salt-Boo. The Seared Scallops were perfect; taste and texture, and the Penne a la Vodka was a party on our palate. The Baked Salmon was typical, but kudos to not drying out the salmon. Luckly Salt-Boo didn't get to these orders or the salad. Not to mention the free-flow bread rolls that tasted great! (Needs olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip them in though, but I won't be too fussy about this.) Unfortunately the Pork Loin and Bacon in Brown Ale Sauce and one of the penne sides were not safe from Salt-Boo's mischief. The Chicken Noodle soup was too salty. The French Onion Soup was more salt than soup or onion. And I don't know what happened to the Wellingtons, but they were not as crispy as they should be. I will give one whole star for the service alone. Our server was very courteous and helpful. She even got the Salt-Boo-touched penne side replaced. And while I'm pretty sure it's already covered in the cost of the meal, the refreshing sorbet to cleanse our palate before the entrée was a nice touch.

First Time here WOW, will definitely be back Started off with the Seafood Bisque Which was packed with Delicious flavor, Required No salt, Pepper Just a Spoon and appetite, Calimari Fried to a Light golden brown and served with a wonderful Marinara sauce, Main Course was the Delmonico steak Cooked medium rare So tender it was like Running a hot knife through butter to cut it, Perfectly salted and Dealt out with Garlic Potato's and Mixed House Greens.. Fabulously Job all the way arround Our Server Madeline Rocked Top notch service from The time we sat down to the time we paid the check and walked out the door

On the positive side, the service was well timed and the menu was somewhat extensive. Unfortunately the food went from acceptable to not very good. The prime rib was acceptable but my partner had a mixed seafood plate that neither of us could eat. We did take it home and fed it to the dogs. Another total meal ruining experience was when 2 young men came in and sat in the booth in front of me where I had to look at someone that was never taught proper etiquette and wore his hat backward, his little friend also wore his hat through dinner. We won't go back.
