China King — Restaurant in City of Lockport

During this pandemic they DESPERATELY need to put a sign out front staying that you must call ahead for orders to pick up. They are following strict safety guidelines and have the entire restaurant tarped off. So when you enter you are in a little hallway type area where you tell them your order THAT YOU CALLED AHEAD FOR AND PAID FOR, and they hand it to you around the barrier. That being said ther protocols are great.

Now for the issue. AGAIN put signs up that orders need to be placed over the phone or online then picked up at the time it will be ready.

When we arrived to pick up our order there were 6 other orders waiting outside for theirs. Problem??? Not to sound insensitive but when all this is going on and you are in a motorized scooter and accompanied by an overweight woman, who both decided to take it upon themselves to enter the restaurant. We all thought they were picking up. NOPE! They spent 15min inside trying to figure out what to order before they ordered, leaving everyone else's orders ready for pick up, but none if us could get in, and the employees couldn't get out to hand it to us. So yes before all this it was great, but it's a tiny restaurant. PUT A SIGN UP FOR PHONE AND ONLINE ORDERS ONLY. As for the rest, have common sense not to do what...

If you can't do Mayflower, then China King is the best Chinese takeout in Lockport. Located not far from Transit Road, they've got the American-style classics you'd want. All of the food is done well, and I've never had to wait too long for my food. Their lunch special is a great value, and they've got good selections for their specials in general.

I can recommend their sesame chicken, pepper steak & onion, and any meat with garlic sauce. Their hot and sour soup is also the best I've had from a Chinese place to date.

Now, some nitpicks. I've noticed of late that their "spicy" dishes taste a bit spicier than normal? Normally that's not an issue with Chinese food for me. If you get the hot & sour soup, try to eat it without refrigerating it. If you keep it in the fridge too long, it congeals into this slimy goop. It may be a common gripe with that kind of soup, though.

Overall, they're pretty good! I'm glad they'd opened up shop a couple years ago, so I don't have to go out of my way to grab some...

Gravely disappointed!

They used to be a great restaurant but after covid happened the started using different strange kind of meats that they still call chicken, beef, and pork but the catch is that chicken is not stringy, beef is not the exact same meat but tinted a different color!

My whole experience was so depressing i threw my food in the trash. Im sure if i really knew what the meat really was that i took a couple reluctant bits of i can guarantee i would be vomiting!

Maybe its better I dont know so i will just leave it at this...if you have a similar experience to mine please dont be afraid to speak up about it on here. Talk about it because the old way of china kings meat preparation was the right way. This new way has ruined any chances of me ordering from! Not worth the 45 dollars i have paid!
