I went to Slow Season on the last day of their soft opening and was blown away!
Before I even walked in the door, a couple who had just left stopped me on the street asking if I was going to the cafe and, when I said I was, could not stop raving about how delicious everything was.
When I walked in, I was greeted by a warm, cozy, and inviting space decorated with vintage plates, mugs, and copper bakeware. The friendly barista gave me the rundown of the menu and clued me in that they had decaf espresso, too (hooray, since it was after 6PM). I ordered a Maple Brown Sugar Shaken [Decaf] Espresso with Oat Milk and it was DE-LI-CIOUS -- way better than the shaken espressos that the green mermaid is churning out! I did not order a charcuterie board, but I did see several of them while I was there, and they all looked beautiful; I certainly plan to get one next time.
// As a direct response to the only negative review I've seen so far, the prices are not at all unreasonable. This is a small local business and for my coffee plus tip I paid $10.50. I checked the menu and the charcuterie board is $16, offers generous amounts of food, and if you need more, it's only a couple extra bucks to add an additional item. These prices are comparable to just about every other place I've been lately; everything is more expensive nowadays, and if you want something of good quality, expect to pay a little more. //
After getting my coffee, I went upstairs to the Crafting Cafe and was welcomed by one of the owners who explained how everything worked. I sat down at a table with my drink and looked over the "Maker's Menu" and decided to go with a needle felting project to craft a little mushroom. I've never needle felted before but the owner assured me that most people who do the project have never done it and they walk away with something that looks like a mushroom. ;) I was given a tray with all the tools and supplies I needed along with a QR code that took me to a video that showed me the process of making my mushroom. In just about two hours, I enjoyed my coffee, chatted with other crafters at a nearby table, and created an adorable little toadstool mushroom!
It was such a joy to treat myself and spend an evening at Slow Season. I'm so excited that their grand opening is upon us and look forward to other opportunities to learn new skills and enjoy time to create and cultivate relationships in such a cozy place with the beautiful souls that...
Read moreGreat spot to grab a tea or coffee and just relax, alone or with friends. They offer a wide variety of loose teas, coffees, cookies and othe desserts, and even a fully customizable charcuterie board. I thought the price and size of the charcuterie board was a bit pricey, and only big enough for one person, but its a nice option. Live music, and in the upstairs rooms they offer craft supplies and instruction including painting, felting, woodcarving, collage, and more. You just go in, select a craft, sit at a table and turn your lamp on and they bring supplies over. A QR code gets you your instruction. Also offer coffe/tea club, work space, kids classes, knitting or needlework club. Very unique...
Read moreWhile the food itself is ok, considering portion size it does not meet the price point. The drinks also fall in the good but not for the price situation. The location itself is also small and cramped. There is no parking lot so parking isn’t great. It feels like someone seen the online trend of charcuterie boards and made an overpriced restaurant for trend that has already passed before it...
