Salty's Surf Shack — Restaurant in City of Long Beach

My friend and I were visiting our vacation home and decided to try this restaurant based on a recommendation. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing — and honestly, upsetting.

We are Asian, and it felt like we were being deliberately ignored by the staff. We weren’t given menus, no one guided us to a proper table, and our presence was barely acknowledged. Meanwhile, a white couple who arrived after us was seated immediately, given menus, and had their order taken right away.

It was hard not to feel that we were being treated differently because of our race. What was supposed to be a pleasant meal turned into an uncomfortable and disheartening experience. It completely ruined our evening and left us feeling hurt and unwelcome.

Discrimination — subtle or not — has no place in any business. I truly hope this restaurant reflects on how they treat...

The atmosphere is everything—casual, fun, and effortlessly cool. The service is top-notch, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Salty’s definitely feels like more of a bar than a restaurant. We stopped by on a Sunday night and almost turned away due to the massive group of people waiting outside - we were pleasantly surprised to see this was just overspill from the bar and were able to get seated right away. The service is a little all over the place, waitstaff was extremely kind and friendly but items came out of the kitchen missing things the menu said they came with (ex: sauce for the fries).
