J's Place — Restaurant in City of Middletown

Your establishment came highly recommended by some close friends and colleagues so I decided to bring my wife for her birthday dinner. We were not disappointed in the least bit. The menu has just the right amount of options, not too big, not too small and with a nice assortment of starters, entrees and specialty cocktails. For an appetizer we began with the Charcuterie board, which was ample for four people to share and offered a delicious selection of meats, cheeses, nuts, fruit etc. For my main, I opted for the J's Burger, cooked medium rare, just how I ordered it and served with crispy fries and a smoked tomato aioli sauce that was like nothing I've ever had before and complimented the burger wonderfully. The bun was fresh, the burger juicy and cooked to perfection and topped with a wonderful amount of caramelized onions, cheddar cheese and bacon. My wife had the burger that was featured on special, which was topped with a fig jam, blue cheese crumbles and bacon as well. A very unique burger and all the flavors came together beautifully. For dessert we had the warm apple crisp topped with vanilla ice cream which had all the flavors of fall and it was definitely enough to split between the two of us. All in all a very pleasant dining experience with a nice atmosphere and friendly service... even the owner came over to ask how everything was and to thank us for coming. We will definitely be back and also recommend J's Place to anyone that has yet...

An outstanding experience!

From the moment the owner greeted us at the door until we stepped back onto the curb, every moment at J’s was fantastic.

It is obvious that the owner, and all of the staff, truly care about people and creating an upscale but very welcoming experience. The service was top notch and the food delicious, with creative touches like a house made fig jam to accompany the Brie and an outstanding pineapple curd to further enliven a creme brûlée which was made from real vanilla beans.

My dinner companion and I are both fortunate enough to travel often and pursue our love of culinary artistry. J’s place stands out as the best overall restaurant experience we have had in recent memory.

Had a dinner here. Ordered a fillet of steak, but already when it was being prepared, we were told that it’s going to be a NY strip instead. Asked if the price is going to stay the same - were told that “yes, but it’s 10oz instead of 8, and going to be just as delicious”. In the end it was chewy and dry piece of meat. It was also kind of burnt at the surface of the meat. Not worth $40 plus tax. Sides were also not good tasting. Also, the attitude of the waitress we received wasn’t quite friendly - we felt uncomfortable.

That was our second time coming here, and turns out to be the last one, too. We feel like for the price, it should be a better dinner experience, and a better attitude. I personally enjoy much more a bowl from Chipotle the meat is actually more tender there and the vegetables feel fresh and nice. And it’s like 3 times as cheap,...
