John's Of Arthur Ave — Restaurant in City of Middletown

Ordered was placed over the phone. Was told the order will be ready in about 25 minutes, it was pouring rain, arrived, parking difficult to find and had the person waiting inside 40 more minutes in the pizzeria. House not even 5 minutes from the pizzeria. We arrive home and first thing we did was dive into the pizza and garlic knots, all this time of waiting and the food was half cold. But we figured ok not the end of the world, we open the wings and on the receipt says 10, was charged for 10 and served 5. Granted we called the place frustrated, because now the food is cold and garlic knots barely seasoned and overcharged, and as I’m aggravated explaining my situation the person on the phone says do you understand it was served to you as soon as it came out the oven. Instead of being humble and understanding you’re in the wrong and that’s no way to speak to clients this way, you make a person feel bad like they did something wrong instead. And than come back and offer to make another pair of wings. Why would anyone want to go back after you just spoke to a customer this way knowing I waited by the door for another 40 minutes for the food to be half cold coming home. Self proclaimed ninja turtle because my family and I literally love pizza! We eat pizza once even twice a week. I really like this place! It’s my neighborhood spot! But they are so inconsistent! I have a love / hate relationship with them because when it’s good it’s amazing but when they aren’t taking the care it shows! As some one who has ordered from them for years and buy from them for parties and dinner anything I know what’s to like and dislike about them. They have amazing crust when it’s well done and not soggy! Or over cooked! Like I literally have to deal with both from them as often as I order. The garlic knots are bomb when it’s well oiled and not dry! Which you have a chance of getting with them. The bbq chicken pizza is the best in the area! Never had a bad slice! The bbq wings are so good! Lol anyone I put on to them loves them! Can’t go wrong with the wings! The prices are fair! The pizza specials are the best way to go! Large pie wings and knots plus soda! That’s our usual! You can get that as a family size which is soooo big!!! Like massive! All and all it’s a love / love relationship! They really turn out a great slice most...

review edit: THE OWNER IS AN ANIMAL ABUSER. He's on the registry. Never going back to this place again. Wish I could give zero stars. I hope he lives a life wayyyy worse than the lives he gave those rotties.

Normally I find that I have a fairly good experience here. Staff are polite and service is quick. Really good with delivery too. My issue is that I went the other day and the plain pizza they had up on display was GROSS. It was wet. That's the only way I can describe it. The crust on the bottom was soggy and the cheese was just falling off. So we opted to wait for a new pie to come out. They took slices, put them in the box and we left. Five minutes later, I couldn't even pick it up. The bottom of the pizza just ripped in half over the weight of the grease and cheese and I literally couldn't even cut it and eat it with a fork and knife to salvage it.
