The Mirage Restaurant & Café — Restaurant in City of New Rochelle

The restaurant serves excellent food and has standout service to boot. Valentin, our server, came by a few times to check that everything was ok. It has an extensive menu that runs to a few pages. My recommendation if you are there for lunch is to go with the lunch specials. They are value for money, and the portions are just right. We had the rack barbecue ribs and broiled salmon. The ribs were melt in the mouth good, and the salmon was very fresh. The highlight of our visit was our conversation with Tara, the restaurant manager. She was very friendly and helpful in getting us the table that we requested. We asked her about the Pacific eel in the marine tank. Tara told us that the eel is about 8 years old and when it was 4 years old, a devastating fire broke out at the Landmark Diner on August 22, 2019, which housed the eel and other fish (owned by the same owner of the Mirage). The owner managed to save the fish, including the eel, and they are now housed in 2 fish tanks in the restaurant. A terrible fire with a happy ending for the eel and its marine friends. So I was looking for something different to eat at work today....looked at the uber app and this place Mirage restaurant & cafe popped up.....reading through their menu it was hard to decide because everything looked good. I ordered the French onion soup and shrimp quesadilla....now I ordered by uber but the restaurant and uber had an issue.....the woman called me and let me know that the reception or something like that was messed up.....so she needed to ask me more information.....to get my order out to me. So I told her Ashley's homestore....and she assured me my order will get here....She was very professional 👏 👌....she kept calling me back letting me know the driver is close by.....I absolutely loved them.....very amazing food and the employees took the time out to make sure I got my lunch....on top of that.....the soup was sooo amazing....omg 😱 the quesadilla delicious 😋.....I will definitely be ordering from them again very very soon.....the soup had lots of onions and cheese...perfectly made. Omg I cant wait to order from them again.. So Thank You Mirage....you will definitely hear...

THE MIRAGE POCKETS ALL TIPS MEANT FOR DELIVERY DRIVERS...I drive for DoorDash when I am off from work. I occasionally pick up for the Mirage and see that the receipt usually calls for a $5 to $8 tip chosen by the customer. However DoorDash shows me that the tip is $0. The Mirage contracts DoorDash drivers for individual orders through buying.com in which they can manually enter the tip based on the requested tip from the customer either over call or through GrubHub. Every restaurant that uses this system is good with giving out the tips except for The Mirage from either incompetence or greed. Since the drivers do not get tips from their orders, pay is only given through the DoorDash base pay which ranges from $2 (2-5 minute drive approx) to $10, (25-30 minute drive approx.). This is not a livable wage for any driver. I wouldn't order from here due to terrible business practices but if you are going to, I would tip the driver cash on arrival.
