This Newburgh spot has delicious Mexican breads and pastries (pan dulces) which are traditionally enjoyed as breakfast and supper snacks; La Amistad also has tacos and tortas and, on the weekend, tamales!
The tacos al pastor we tried were delicious and the tortas we sampled stuffed with cheese, avocado, and meat equally good. Of course, the pan dulces were delicious the next day with our coffee!
The storefront shop opens later than the bakery which is around back, and that opens at 7:00 a.m.

I stopped by this morning at 8:45 to buy a dozen for my brother who is visiting from Florida. I asked for a dozen assorted tamales and was told they were not ready until after 9am.
