Silk Factory — Restaurant in City of Newburgh

My wife and I came here this past Sunday for brunch about an hour after they opened. Was a very busy we were immediately sat. My wife got a cappuccino and what look like a sausage egg and cheese with home fries. And I got an Americano coffee and the steak and eggs with home fries. My coffee came with a huge chip on the mug, and it was brewed so hot that the coffee was almost undrinkable cuz it was so bitter.. the food took awhile to come out but that wasn't really that big of a deal. The food however had absolutely no taste whatsoever.the home fries we're just fried diced potatoes with no seasoning no onions no peppers. My steak had zero seasoning as well. And my wife said that her sandwich had no taste not even the sausage she had to ask for ketchup to smother sandwich in to give it flavor. Really disappointing.The inside is really cool with all the antique chairs and tables and they even have live music however the table that we were set at was way too short. I'm I'm only 5'6 and my thighs were pushing up against the bottom of the table. They also had a live band playing. And although the band was good playing good music it was a little loud for 11:00 on a Sunday morning for brunch My wife and I were literally screaming at each other to have a conversation.the staff was friendly but that's about it. The food really let us down cuz we heard really good things about this place, but to be honest we could have gotten better tasting food from a place like Perkins or Denny's at least as far as the brunch menu...

First I will start with the positives. This is a great space in a converted industrial loft. They also have an awesome party room with trussed roof on the second floor. The owner came to our table and introduced us. He was a really nice guy and passionate about his business. I hope he can take some of this constructively to make some changes. The drinks were good and the bartender was really nice. Once we went to the table (we were one of three tables full on a Saturday night), the service got a little dicey. Our server was very nice but she was out of sight for a lot of the evening. Waited almost 10 minutes for a drink at one point and just went up to the bar myself. We were a party of 12. I feel like if there are only 3 full tables, maybe the service should be a little better? Apps: Chicken wings were great, bacon wrapped dates just OK, Spanish octopus was old (funky taste) and rubbery. People were saying the Ramen soup was salty. I ordered the Stracatto which was listed as "braised short rib". This came with no bone and I believe it was chuck steak. Overcooked, tough, and stringy. Not real short rib or not properly prepared. Should probably state "boneless" short rib if that's what it is. at $38 it wasn't cheap. All together we spent over $100 per person without tip. I don't see the value in this. There are so many other restaurants that consistently serve high quality, well prepared food at that price point. Might come back here for drinks or a concert but that's it. Hopefully they get a new chef and...

It takes a lot to tangle with two left feet but I returned for the 5th times from Queens, NY...it is worth the trip!
