My girlfriend and I went here because it looked like a nice place to go out to dinner as a couple. The ambiance is great, we both loved it. Our waiter was a very nice, energetic, and enthusiastic man, however he didn’t check in on us even once, and it wasn’t busy at all when we were there. The only time we saw him was when he brought us our food and the check. I would have had a second maple old fashioned because I thought it was tasty, but he never came over for me to ask for another. Had he checked on us at least twice, he would have given us the perfect service. I had the tenderloin beef tips which was delicious and a good sized portion. The beef was very tender and flavorful, especially in that red wine cream sauce. The menu description did not say to my recollection that it came with mashed potatoes but I’m not complaining because I liked that it did. My GF had the fish and chips and said she liked it. The truffle fries we had for our appetizer were delicious, but we didn’t know the sauce it came with had horseradish in it as the description just said citrus aioli. I also had a French onion soup for an appetizer. The soup looked great but didn’t taste like French onion soup, it had a sweet taste like the liquid in a can of baked beans. It also had bacon in it which isn’t common and didn’t say that in the description. For dessert I had the cheesecake. It was good and plated well, however there was no chocolate ganache on it and it was supposed to get some. I ordered an espresso martini with my dessert and whoever made it forgot the espresso! It was just vodka and baileys! The menu said the martini was $12 but I was charged $14. A random $2 up charge for my drink. Overall we enjoyed our dining experience, and I would go back AND recommend the restaurant to people. Just be warned service can be slow which was a common complaint among the google reviews I read. Still worth a try if you’re reading...
Read moreOne of the better places to eat in Plattsburgh. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu yet service timing was a little off. We were fortunate to get a table right away on a Friday night. The two parties behind us waited 45 minutes before a table opened. To Latitudes' advantage the bar is available and the drinks are not bad. After perusing the menu for a solid ten minutes we were finally greated by our server. Took our dink order and went over the daily special menu. From that moment on the bar staff and Chef Allen and his team put or experience on cruise control. The food was seasoned well, perfect portions, and priced to meet the expectations of the locals. Entrees starting at $10 to $30 with lighter fare and sandwiches avaible as well. A well balanced menu allows the chef to make good ingredient decisions that allow his style to come out in every dish. My adventure for the night was a maple bourbon old fashion, a soup of cheese and fingerlings potato, my entree the frutti d mare, and french press coffee with bread pudding. I have always enjoyed what Chef Allen does at every establishment he has had the reigns. For this establishment to be the best in Plattsburgh the service needs to be more attentive. I only ordered a cocktail for a beverage. My water was empty by my entree and it was never refilled. Server seemed to bus as well. The time from when the bill was presented to the time we were able to leave was about 20 minutes. Again servers were bussing tables to seat the two previously mentioned parties.
In the end the drinks are ok, the food is great for Plattsburgh, and the service needs some work. Worth...
Read moreI had high expectations for Latitude 44 Bistro, especially after hearing so many positive reviews, but my experience left much to be desired.
Starting with the service, it was noticeably slow. It took over 30 minutes for my soup and salad to arrive, while other tables seemed to be served in a timely manner. Perhaps there was an issue with only one waiter handling multiple tables, or maybe our food was being prepared by someone else due to staff shortages.
I ordered the French onion soup, which was disappointingly small. On a brighter note, the Chicken Caesar with blackened chicken was quite good; it hit the right notes and was satisfying.
However, my ribeye steak was a letdown. The texture and taste were unusual, leading me to believe it might have been previously frozen, thawed, and then refrozen. I had ordered it medium, but it arrived well done, which didn’t help its case. The accompanying carrots were also a miss; they were undercooked and tough, making them difficult to enjoy.
Lastly, I opted for the mushroom pasta, but it was overpowered by an excessively strong blue cheese, which took away from the overall dish. The shrimp were boiled and added on top which was also strange that it wasn’t cooked with the dish.
Overall, my experience was disappointing compared to the glowing reviews I had read. While there were some redeeming dishes, the service and quality of the food left me...
