My fiancĆ© & I wanted to try a different restaurant since Main Moon was closed. We usually get Main Moon because I only eat their sliced, jerky-like boneless ribs. Not to mention, their food is on point. So from King Chef, I ordered Hunan shrimp special combo (which has the š¶ next to it indicating that it's a spicy dish. I even googled "Hunan style" to get a better idea and it's described as a bit more than spicy (which is what I wanted)). My fiancĆ© ordered the CHK with garlic sauce, which also has a š¶ next to it. Although the prices were good... NEITHER dish was spicy in the slightest bit and honestly lacked flavor all-together. I also added a large wonton soup but after I'd already paid with my card. Therefore, I had to use my card again but since the wonton soup was less than $5, I was charged a 75c fee (even though I just spent over $25 all together and just used my card). I will say large wonton soup was full of wontons but... The food lacked flavor all together and the "spicy" food really needs to be spicier BUT the fact that the small dining area of the restaurant seems to haven't have had ANY upgrades since opening (about 40 YEARS) and now is a storage area which blocks the large picture windows tells you how much care is put into the food. Again... The front of the restaurant is completely taken up with store products (even on a dining booth & table) and Main st. has such high foot traffic (potential indoor dining customers). Indoor dining isn't even an option... But...

I know that this doesnāt seem like a lot but for me this day it was all I had. š Driving home from work the other day so tired didnāt feel like cooking. Decided to call in an order of 2 half chicken to go with rice I had from night before at home. Arrive to king chef thereās a woman taking orders answering phone doing a lot. Moving way too fast. I understand your busy and you have try and keep up. She swipes my card for the 10.75 I get alert instantly on my phone and then she swipes again. For 2.86 I believe. Comes to window and says card didnāt go through and refuses to give my food. Iām arguing with her like lady it did get charged look trying to show her receipt from phone because she wasnāt understanding what she did wrong.. I went home hungry and no money to buy food elsewhere. Very very disappointed. I will never go back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was visiting Poughkeepsie and was told that this was a reliable place for delivery. I called, ordered and was told that my food would arrive in 4-45 minutes. It finally came well over an hour later. The food was luke warm and spilled all over the bag. The accompaniments were covered in sauce. Some of my requested items were missing altogether.
I called the restaurant, articulated my displeasure and asked what they could do to mitigate the situation. Suddenly, the same man who took my order, etc couldn't understand English and was unwilling to listen to my concerns, other than to say how busy they were when I called to place my order and that he was sorry that I didn't receive my full order (I wasn't charged for the missing items) but there was no attempts to make things right. I won't order from this place again...and I suggest that you...
