Family Dollar — Local services in City of Poughkeepsie

Very unprofessional assistant manager. About 2pm today I went with my 4 year old niece to purchase some stuff at this store. She picked up a doll comb and brush set and handed it to the cashier along with the stuff I was purchasing. Apparently there was no pricing on it so he asked where she got it. I told him she picked it up from some stuff laid out in the store and wanted to purchase it. He promptly put it aside without a word and continued cashing while my niece stood there looking sad about not getting the toy. I am not one to create a scene so I let it slide. This man seems to have issues as while waiting in the line he kept sighing and behaving as if the world was upon him. Family dollar should reconsider this man as an employee and an "assistant manager" at that as they will certainly lose business because of him. I for one won't be shopping there if I go in and see him. I will make a u turn and leave...

I call this location "the bum store". Outside, panhandlers greet you. Inside is a scene of total chaos. They are usually out of stock on at least one item you were looking for, although the place is so dishevelled it can be hard to tell whether they do or don't have an item. Sometimes you can't even physically access the isles or shelves because piles of stuff is blocking the way. I've never seen anything like it. And then if you do find something you want you usually have to stand in a long line at the registers to check out.

On the plus side, Family Dollar is a great franchise for getting cleaning supplies at a good price. I recommend the location in Pleasant...

I give it 3 stars just because it's easy to get in and out of the parking lot. It's the messiest store i have ever been in and as others have said, always have merchandise in boxes in the isles. atleast once ive seen it where the isle was completely inaccessible. There is always something missing that i need. It's hit or miss wether the things you need are going to be stocked. The family dollar across from crown chicken is much better place to go to and have bigger selection of refrigerator items and always has milk...
