Very chaotic. This restaurant is really a take out donut place but they offer a large diner food menu as well. Apparently at their Culver street location, there are waiters and you can dine in. There was no indication on their website that this location was any different. We took the menus that were by the door and sat down to look at them, then went up to the register to order. The staff was VERY surprised that we had ordered diner food instead of donuts, and hadn't even heard of some of the items on their menu. There was a chef in the back who said that he could make everything we wanted, but the other staff did not know how to ring us up for these food items and had to go to the back to check everything with the chef. When we ordered rye toast, they said they only had rye bread (although rye toast was on their menu) and my husband had to suggest to them that they just toast the bread. In addition, the bathroom floors were dirty.
The only reason I can give two stars instead of one is because most of our group liked their food. My friend got a cannoli crepe that looked delicious. I didn't like the scrambled eggs and my toast was burnt.
Many people came and went while we were sitting in there and ordered donuts to go. The donuts looked great. I'm only posting this review so people know that this is not a great place if you are looking for a sit down...
Read moreFirst of all the donuts are excellent! The staff definitely needs some training. There were more people behind the counter than people waiting and yet only 2 people were being helped. My box was covered with smudges and chocolate. I like a nice clean box when I'm buying food. Maybe the staff needs to change their gloves? Also, it would be nice if the donuts were put in the box so the frosted donuts don't get smashed! I have no idea how the donuts are priced. The first time I ordered 6 donuts (2 apple fritters, 2 Bavarian cream, 2 honey glazed) and was charged $10 no tax. This time I ordered the same thing and my bill was $16.48. All the donuts came from the regular price section but I was told that the apple fritters had a $2 gourmet charge each and the honey glaze were specialty and had a $1 upcharge each. Then they charge tax on just the upcharge. The lady next to me says she gets charged something different every time she comes in! If your staff can't figure out the pricing then maybe a simpler pricing model would be better. It's so nice to have a good donut place close by on the west side but as good as the donuts are, the company is making a very...
Read moreWent here for the second time yesterday. Ordered 4 donuts, they charged me for a six-pack (didn't notice til I looked at the receipt at home, so shame on me) plus two up charges. I didn't get any 'gourmet' from the display to justify upcharges, just your basic donuts off the back shelf. My one 'filled' apple and spice donut has no filling (no, it's not a tiny bit of filling that's hiding this bish is barren) and is just a regular donut covered in cinnamon and powdered sugar, and they took an actual half hour to make two wraps...honestly not what I was expecting. And for one of the wraps, instead of charging me for the menu item I ordered they charged for a BYO with-you guessed it-up charges. Disappointed. 😔 Get it together, guys. Or train people better. Don't just have them standing around shooting the ish in the back. "If you have time to talk, you have...
