Flour City Bread Company is a magical place. Every single thing I've had there has been outstanding. Sour dough, baguettes, seasonal savory and sweet tarts, chocolate croissants, fougasse... it's all out of this world. My personal favorite is their canele. Just about every weekend I sit and enjoy a book, accompanied by a cup of coffee and one of their delicious canele. If you're visiting the Rochester Public Market, I highly, highly recommend making a stop here.

I was so disappointed! I had a chocolate croissant and there were two measly, almost non-existent chocolate strips towards the bottom of the croissant. When I want a chocolate croissant, I want there to be a bit of chocolate in each bite. I just got back from Europe--- they know how to make a chocolate croissant!

Flour City is my go to spot for all my pastry and bread needs. In particular, I love the pastries. When I’m needing a quick breakfast, a good mushroom danish or a spinach and feta croissant goes a long way. But your classic plain or almond croissant is also so, so good.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I have not yet visited this establishment (and it now looks like I never will!). My wife and I are excited to visit Rochester in early August with our granddaughter. Being the structure freak that I am, while planning out dining spots, I came upon this bakery and thought it would be a fun place to visit and to load up our hotel room with wonderful treats. As I was reading the reviews, how turned off did I feel when I read the message response from the proprietor telling the customer to, "Go back to Europe" when the customer criticized the quantity of chocolate in one of their product. How rude! As a capitalist myself, I know better than to make snide responses like that to ANYONE! NOW, I may THINK these comments, but I have enough common sense not to VERBALIZE them. Nevertheless, this place may be amazing, but because of the offensive owners, I will...

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went there this Saturday with my daughter and 1 year old granddaughter! Bought some rolls!! People who work there are not pleasant! Especially the old man at the deli! Very rude!! My grandaughter was real sick last night and today! My daughter was also feeling ill!! She is pregnant with baby number two!! Had the rolls we bought!!! Today I had went to move the ones we did not eat to put away!! And there was black mold on the bottom!! opened the package and black mold spots in the middle!!!! Hoping that the black mold on the rolls did not get her sick!!!!! Saving the rolls tll tomorrow!! Calling the health department to see if they would like to take them and check it out for me!!!!!! I will never go back!!!!!!!! Might be from the market and they might say there organic but that does not mean anything to me!!!! Black mold is...

Initially walking in I was surprised how sort of random the place was but after ordering I was told to head in the "back" to grab my food. Off to the side almost behind the counter is a door way that leads to the "back" which is actually the main area! They have a generous amount of seating and a good sized coffee bar where you can order drinks (this is cash only where in front they do take credit cards). The atmosphere was almost farm like lots of natural feels too it. The kitchen was tucked in the back and your food would be set on the window sill when ready if ordered to-go. The service was timely and everyone was very pleasant. Lastly, the food was top notch. The bacon egg and cheese on a bagel is one of my top 5. They have all sorts of pastries and the chocolate croissant I purchase before leaving was quite yummy. I would definitely...
