Learn moreSaw the most wonderful show last nite....felt like a time traveler back to the days of LITTLE WOMEN @ Blackfriars Theatre!! It's the musical 🎶 and the music was so perfect for the story..and if you really listened to the words...touched the heart!! The cast was so very well selected for each character you just were a part of the family circle !! LITTLE WOMEN was one of the first 'big girl' book that I read and each character was exactly as I had imagined them those 60+ yrs ago. (That was a monumental feat in itself!) And what they did with that stage....the SET is just beautiful with a full wall sized portrait that transports you from scene to scene - - just a phenomenal bit if theatrics.!! CONGRATULATIONS!! to Danny Hoskins, Mary Tiballi-hoffman, the cast, musicians, and crew for giving us such a beautiful production this Holiday season👏🌲🕊 CALL ASAP -(454-1260) to be able to get to see this show!! Word has it It's close to a total sellout..so call quickly and it's even worth it to get on the Waiting list or SRO!! Too beautiful to miss....!!! So warm, loving, uplifting and enduring 💞-- a show that will remain a part of...
Read moreJust saw “PRETTY FIRE” at Black Friars, Rochester. My spouse and I were (and still are) both blown away by the performance. Adryanna Elmendorf, (definitely a star performer) held us absolutely throughout every word, feeling, and each period of the life of her character. Actually she revealed each of the other characters, mentioned in the play, with her expressions so perfectly I was held in every moment. Now that was cool. Her take of each of the other personalities brought them to life as well! Absolutely amazing! I can only imagine how the author of Pretty Fire would be impressed with Ms Elmendorf, too. I will pay attention to upcoming shows with this actress so I can enjoy her performances again! The author, Charlayne Woodward, is a pure force! The writing was wonderful and engaging at every turn. Thank You Black Friars for employing this actress in this performance! And another big round of applause followed by standing ovation for...
Read moreOne of the greatest things in Rochester--never disappoints!!! The choices of plays are exceptional, possibly because the audience has some say in the list of future productions. They are haunting, current, yet timeless. The 3/4 round stage means everyone has a good seat. The staging is brilliant in its simplicity. And the acting--the acting is exceptional, like the actor grew up playing the part. And the talent is local! Surprise, Rochester! You have amazing talent!
The last play we saw, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, is a one person play, not that you would notice, because the actor takes on the persona of each person he, the detective, interviews. The play, a noir of the killing of a young gay teenager, is funny, sad, and brilliantly portrayed.
Blackfriars is a...
